Cannot get more than 30 FPS Average for games

Nirmal Radhakrishnan

I have a ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT 15.6" FHD 120Hz Laptop GTX 1650 4GB Graphics (Ryzen 5-3550H/8GB RAM/1TB HDD + 256GB PCIe SSD/Windows 10/Stealth Black/2.20 Kg), FX505DT-AL202T.

It has a 120hz monitor which feel useless when most of the games or all the games im playing now max out at 30 FPS average, reducing the game quality doesnt help.

Right now im playing Need for Speed Heat and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

This is a long shot but do you have a frame cap in your Nvidia control panel settings that overrides your in game settings?

I didnt cap FPS but i did enable V sync in the game settings since it was going beyond 120, the FPS jumps to 65 to 120 at sometimes but comes back to 30 to 34 FPS on average

The games possibly aren't using your 1650. That being said, AC Oddessy is notoriously difficult to run.

i do not understand, if there are not using 1650 how can they be running in the first place.

When you go to run the game from the shortcut, right click on it and look to see if you have the option of Run with Graphics processor and then choose your 1650. I had the same issue with my G15 and this fixed it.

hmm, yeah you are right, that's running on your 1650. Ive got a Ryzen 7 4800H 2.9ghz with a GTX 1660ti maxQ and I get 160fps easily, you should be getting well over 100fps. I'd be interested in what temps you are getting, what power profile you have selected etc. Thats what I'd be looking at to try and troubleshoot your issue. Id also run a few benchmarks so I could maybe compare my results with similar systems. Im sure we can all try and help you out here though.

Edit: I also forgot to say make sure you have the latest drivers for both of your GPU's

Run GPU-Z in the background then check PerfCapReason and thermal.

If it say Pwr then not much you can do unless you have higher wattage power brick.
You're not on battery right?
