Crucial announces MX200 and BX100 SSDs

Crucial announced their new MX200 and BX100 SSDs on CES 2015

The MX200 is built for performance on a SATA 6Gbps interface, and as such, these drives boast sequential reads and writes of up to 555MB/s and 500MB/s, respectively, as well as random reads of up to 100,000 IOPS and random writes of up to 87,000 IOPS.

MX200 drives can last for up to 320 TBW (total bytes written) on the 1TB model, offering up to five times more endurance than a typical SSD.

AES 256-bit encryption is also part of the package, along with something Crucial calls Data Defense to guard against corrupt files, adaptive thermal protection to keep systems cool, and power loss protection to negate the need to blurt out expletives when the power goes out -- your data should still be intact.

As for the BX100 line, these drives come in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities and offer sequential read and write performance of up to 535MB/s and 450MB/s, respectively. They're also the first drives to include the Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller.

It has high-performance and low power consumption SM2246EN controller combined with leading-edge Micron NAND helps make the BX100 fast, energy efficient, and affordable.

Nice. I'll make my friend wait with buying a 128 GB MX100, for one of these 2...

I think they cost too much.

Sounds strange as a complaint, but I do. The 250GB variants are both too expensive.

BX100 seems to be a lot worse, and MX200 doesn't have a 128GB option.

Even when MX100 was released it had higher prices. But now they are cheap.

As you said MX100 is best bang for buck SSD.

S**t just brought a MX100 250 gig. THe price will probs go down a bit now :'(

Highly doubt it, they're already the cheapest SSD's so there's no point for Crucial to lower the prices.

Lets hope that with all these new SSD's that pricing will go down for all the other ones.

There isn't a really big difference between SSD's these days, just grab whatever is the cheapest from a reputable brand.

Everyone complains about price...

Why don't you look back at the orginal MSRP of the MX100?

It's going to be a bit expensive at launch, then the price will lower to compete once the hype is gone. This happens on every crowded market.

I mean for $70 for the 120GB is a bit more expensive than it should be. Though looking at the prices again, they aren't too bad.

BX has lot less IOPs and 120gb version isnt worth it.

I would say keep an eye out for mx100 256gb deals (i got mine for the price of 128gb) or maybe go for Samsung evo 850 when they come out. Just wait and see which is cheaper.

Also 128/120gb is enough for windows but too little for games. I only have about 10 games on my mx100 and its almost full :(

Once the prices level out these will be very nice drives to have at the value perspective as the current MX100's already are.
