Kingston Announces HyperX Cloud II

http://www.kingston.com/us/hyperx/cloud#hscp

Yeah, not sure if you would consider this an "announcement" but here it is. Some reviews said mic quality was not the best, others said surround sound was lacking. They seem to be addressing those.

Spec sheet shows that the mic is diffrent.

There is a included USB Soundcard for virtual 7.1 surround.

It is 30g lighter! Yay! :D

Also gone are the dual 3.5mm jacks. There`s only one 3.5mm 4 pole jack. :)

Why did they ruin the white version! They just HAD to only have a white and pink version... The virtual surreound sound isn't an advantage, it will be just as bad as sound from your motherboard, if not worse.

Virtual surround :(

it's included, but not required, actually i think it's great decision since kids want their stupid surround these days.

It usually means they'll skimp on something.

I hope this "virtual surround sound" won`t ruin the sound quality, even if it will, let us disable it. But I have high hopes. The headphones themselves are the same, based on old Takstar design. :)

I am looking forward to review these when they come out. As with all things, they will come to my country around 2-4 weeks later.

Would be bananas if they keep the sound quality same, upgrade the mic, and send a proper soundcard with proper surround sound.

I have the v1 and love it. Hope the v2 is even better and they don't skimp on the quality now that the HyperX Cloud has a good reputation.

I was hoping this was something to do with cloud services, not headphones.

Still going to stick with my M50's until I can afford some Sennheiser headphones.

I wonder if the mic would be detected if I plugged this up to my FiiO E10k, anyone into audio care to let me know how that'd work? The reason I didn't get the original Cloud was because the mic test videos left much to be desired when my crappy 5 dollar zalman clip on mic sounded nicer.

Wow was about to pull the trigger on one of the 1st gen ones! Glad I waited. I really like that black and grey, minimalist with just enough accent color/logo.

Because most of the gaming headsets that have virtual 7.1 surround sound have bad soundcards and surround affects the sound quality in a bad way, as many people say. :)

However, I have high hopes. I myself was looking to buy the HyperX Cloud, but seeing this 2nd version coming, I will buy that instead. Hope Kingston will keep up. :D

I think they will still exist, but only external ones like the mayflower O2

I think only for the most snobby/professional users will dedicated sound cards continue to exist. The system on the MSI Z97 Gaming 7 is so good with Sennheiser's virtual surround I could have let it pass as live performance.

It surprises me that dedicated still exists. I mean, do they really skimp out much on the audio components for budget laptops/netbooks/ultrabooks (Laptop makers, dedicated motherboard makers have been doing pretty well in that regard.)?

Bit disappointed. This seems more like a side step vs an upgrade (the new mic is nice tho). But I guess that's to be expected when they release a new pair like 1yr after the originals came out (that's quite a short time for most headsets).

+ I liked the black/white colour scheme. With some improvements it would of sold a lot more.
