The truth about Beats by Dre.

SpyRosL

Really nice video from MKBHD,i thought i should share it here.

I guess it makes a little bit of sense mostly to those who have no idea about headphones (and maybe reduce the hate towards beats products?) but I still wouldn't buy them.. Not a single chance!!

What do you guys think?

Sorry in advance if it is a repost.

Beats only came into being because they wanted dre to make signature edition runners, he said no so they did headphones instead,  Beats headphones are the signature edition nikes of the headphone world.

Except that they got monster to design and produce the first headphones. Monster are well known for making notoriously overpriced gear that is average at best. Essentially beats are a merchandising venture, it's about fashion not audio.

And this was all confirmed and justified when people who know what a good audio product should be, knew straight away the beats were crap.

I saw this earlier, and he is pretty much correct on the issue. In my own little personal inference of his summary, If you want to be a deaf sheep, buy beats, if you want to discover what you're missing, buy better quality headphones.

Headphones are made to provide good sound. Sure, build quality and aesthetics can be a factor, TO A POINT, but in no way are looks more important than how the thing actually sounds. If the first 20 seconds of this video are in any way representative of how beats sound, my 50$ headset sounds WAY better and looks cool too. Beats don't deserve to get less hate, if they sell people a bad product for an inflated price just because they can pull it off thanks to marketing they are scum in my eyes.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I've seen some of this guy's videos and he seems to have a pretty level head about all of this. I agree with his saying the Audio Technica M50's are better soundwise, I mean... i'm wearing some right now. I didn't see his review until after i'd bought them however.

I'm going to agree with this assessment of the Beats stuff though, I mean some people unfortunately think all that matters is how it looks. And honestly I can't blame some people, I buy some things for more visual style for slightly less functionality as something else. But usually that's functionality that isn't the sole purpose of the product and is just some extra niceness to it. And then there's some things I buy simply for the functionality. But I can't say i've ever (if i'm educated enough about it) decided to buy something specifically for looks instead of functionality that's important to the product. That's just stupid in my opinion.

personally, thier earbuds erent bad. even sound quality, just... the bass is a tad muddier than i'd like but they're damn comfortable. i love them. (even though.... they broke... i had a bad pair, serves me right for buying it for 20 dollars.)

thier headphones erent bad, just not the best. for someone who doesnt know much about headphones yet, buying beats is a good step up from those 20 buck earbuds you got from apple.

Or you could just let people buy what they fucking want to and not project your superiority complex onto them.

Figures you would defend Beats.

I'm glad I'm there to help keep my gf informed on tech stuff. She was considering a pair of skull candy cans and I got her to get something from Sennheiser instead.

Its up to us to keep our loved ones informed about gimmicky junk.

I don't know shit about clothes, so I rely on my friends to tell me what brands to avoid and how much I should pay.  I return the favor with audio and tech related advice.

If it's crap, you return it. Big deal. How do you think you'd feel if you were previously satisfied with a purchase and then someone told you you were wrong to be satisfied and were essentially stupid? That's the aspect of this that I don't like.

Maybe you should consider that if your argument revolves "my ignorance is bliss", you should return to the drawing board. If I bought $300 headphones and a friend had me try $80 headphones that were much better, I just might get out of my comfort zone and see reality for what it is.

But by all means Builder, enjoy chewing on that blue pill. (Matrix reference, has nothing to do with viagra)

He doesn't really say anything new, we all knew that people buy Beats for the brand and not for the sound
