Girlfriend Approved TV Setup! - Sony HT-Z9F Showcase

Razer Surround does the same thing (not that I would ever be caught dead using a razer product but I tried the software out).

I seriously doubt that soundbar is even near a real surround system :) My center speaker is bigger than that :)

i can't take a video that's sponsored by the manufacturer of the product seriously. please. stop. it.

It's easy money.

Extra income on top of the youtube ad revenue.

Also an easy video to make since it requires no real thought, just talk about the points the manufacturer tells you to.

In a few years LTT might just turn into an advertising channel where every video is a sponsored ad :/

Eh... we do try to do the showcase videos only as "extra" content, which makes them specifically not easy videos as they're just extra work. Eg. in this case we have another video publishing at midnight tonight which is "saturday's standard video," for Facebook it was released Friday at noon which is our typical showcase spot as Friday's standard video is WAN show.

Sony - extra release, 2nd video coming tonight at midnight

Facebook - extra release, Friday @ noon (non-standard release time)

Viewsonic - this one was a standard video because the team thought it was a pretty strong release. It also took much more time & effort than most videos to produce, so it doesn't really line up with the "they're easy videos" argument

Insta360 - extra release, Friday @ noon

You're just proving my point so... thanks!

I think that firelighter's point is that there's a lot of them lately.

So it's just a bunch of extra videos for more money then, not necessarily replacing the regular content, right

What happened to the "we can only release one video per day because of the way youtube pushes notifications"

Sure, but my response wasn't directed to them, it was directed to you. I was responding to your point, not theirs.

My response to the "there are too many of them" point isn't necessarily a popular one, which is why I tend not to give it in most cases.

We're a business - as our success grows, our opportunities grow, and logically we try to find a way to take advantage of those opportunities while having a minimal negative impact on all other aspects of our business. Showcase videos, as extra releases, are one of the solutions we've found that (in our minds) do that, as most brands in Q4 are looking for full videos rather than mentions within other content.

I get that some people hate it. I'm not saying they're wrong to hate it, or that they don't have a point. But from my perspective we're doing a lot to try to still provide the best viewing experience we can while also improving our success as a business.

Eh. The more popular LTT gets the more willing companies are to just throw products/money at them for "advertising." However, this is not the content the the original LTT fans want, but that doesn't matter because these ads, (disguised as videos) generate more money than the original content.

I think what we are seeing is the start of the sellout. Pretty sure this is the exact definition of a sellout.

Eventually LTT will hire more people to make these ads, and they'll realize that if they just make more of these ads, they'll make more money, and every business wants to make money, so they'll make more and more and eventually start making less of the original content.

Boo. I liked the tech channels before they started getting sponsored by huge companies.

Anyone have recommendations for a smaller channel that does more... interesting stuff and less.... review stuff? Jay seems to do fewer reviews so I've been watching him a good bit.

Nothing is disguised here. It says in the description and right at the beginning of the video that it's sponsored by Sony. Linus also calls it out verbally.

I honestly can't believe you have the balls to post something like this, I don't work for LMG but I can tell your points are just pure lies. For a member that posted 1,615 posts on this forum, this is absolutely disgraceful.

How about we just let the plebs watch them and the rest of us can ignore them?

I mean we all know a Sponsored video, of a review of a product where the sponsor is the manufacturer themselves, is as good as the manufacturer reviewing it themselves. I mean it basically is an ad, not a review.

Why? It's simply logical. LTT wants to make money. These things make them money. I'm just sad that it'll likely eventually lead to less original content.

I'm not the only one who has expressed these opinions.

And yeah, I'm slightly angry. Why? Because one of my previously favorite youtube channels that I would support wholeheartedly has been steadily releasing less and less interesting (to me) content. Their channel is changing. For better or worse is of personal opinion.

My post basically reiterated what Enderman (40,000+ posts) said above. Are you going to chastise them too?

And besides, it's the internet, my balls can be as big as I want them to be.

There was a missed opportunity when Linus asked "Grille or no grille?" to make a joke about how this video is supposed to be for the 'grillfriend' approval xD

When there are LMG employees on the site you need to very careful in what you say or include within the post, I'm actually surprised Nick didn't get your ass back into line because that's what I would have done.
