  4. i doubt they can go ARM like Apple has this early. the M1 was in the works for years. there were rumours about apple silicon powered Mac's back in 2015...

  6. i've kinda realised something. i always used to want the latest OS's and software and the latest features, but especially the last few macOS releases have brought nothing to the table for me that i'd want. i think the new design in Big Sur is ugly, and all of Catalina's new features is all stuff i never use. i'm probably just gonna stick a few versions behind since the last version of macOS that had anything to offer was Mojave, being dark mode. i might upgrade my MBP to Catalina to get security updates once mojave becomes eol but tbh there's not much point. people get by using 10.11 still so like...

idk i guess i've realised that having the latest software has basically 0 use.. it just makes my computers slow and bloated.

i might yeet Catalina on my MBP but eh for now i'm happy with it on Mojave.
  8. update, i installed Mojave (because i had an installer backed up and downloading catalina wiht my internet takes 3 hours) and it feels like a completely different computer. it's honestly insane how big of a difference especially in fluidity with the graphics it makes...

There's a reason I still run Mojave on all of my machines. Only one of my laptops has Big Sur on it, and it's just used for testing. Mojave is where I do all of my work on that computer.

  9. idk if it's just me but i really am starting to dislike Big Sur (and Monterey), they are huge OS's (12gb installers compared to around 6 for mojave and catalina), and much heavier on graphics. i also don't like their interface. everytime i use catalina on my old macbook pro i'm reminded of how good the old UI was.

i'm gonna do a little test, install Catalina on my 2015 MBP and i'm gonna see if it runs better. running either Big Sur or the Monterey beta it's quite choppy on graphics. more so than my 2012 MBP and that has MUCH slower graphics.

  10. you know, it's crazy that all of IT would collapse if a group of wizards didn't make a forum post for basically everyting back in 1994

  11. source that's not what i meant. Apple verifying drivers means that everything on a Mac is guaranteed to work. you won't have to deal with graphics drivers crashing for example like on Windows.
  12. windows and linux have nowhere close to the hardware integration that Apple's OS's do. they verify drivers for example, making that a non-issue for users.
  13. based on yes. but they are absolutely not the same and there's loads of development going into each one.
  14. they make 5. all for different hardware.
  15. uh no, developing 5 OS's as they do is expensive. very expensive. cuz it's not just the OS, also first party apps.

New System built and running Win 11! Ryzen 3800…

    love the optical drives
  17. mhm. what about software? Apple develops their own OS, that's very expensive. what about app distribution? Apple has it's own platform for that, that's very expensive. what about support? Apple supports iPhones that are almost 7 years old right now with the latest software. that's very expensive. again, Apple develops their own OS, has it's own platform for apps, validates drivers and support...
  18. just gonna leave this here, you're welcome.

  19. ugh stupid argument, even ltt have proved that the "apple tax" is a myth
  20. I wouldn't doubt it, their prices haven't gone up at all iirc since the whole shortage thing...
  21. a dead spider. oh you wanted stupid tech stuff? I can name anything. proprietary boards, proprietary power supplies, cpu sockets that were tilted slightly so you couldn't install a proper cooler...
  22. up until a year or so ago LMG's Mac content always had a very negative vibe around it. they always made a big deal out of temperatures for example while not noting it in other laptop reviews where the cpu got just as hot, etc etc. that's why I find this so entertaining.
