Sony Announces The PlayStation Classic

honestly, good on Sony for doing something for fun, but they should've packed a PS1 and PS2 emulator in a PSP sized body to compete against the Switch instead. They could give it PS3 release pricing and I'd still buy like 5

Lordy, everyone's cashing in on the nostalgia. Thankfully I wasn't born yet when the Playstation release, so there's no nostalgia to compel me to buy one.

I was born  in 89 and I have no nostalgia for it

However If there is ever a n64 or GameCube classic I may go buy one

I like FF7, Symphony of the Night, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo, and Crash Bandicoot.  Though $100 is a bit much for me.  Especially since FF7 and Crash Bandicoot have either been remastered or rereleased elsewhere.

Sorry my mistake, obviously the best Final Fantasy game was The Legend of Dragoon.

The correct answer is 3 for the Americans, but is known as 6 in Japan for the SNES and PS1!

Ya both wrong, Chrono Cross was the best Final Fantasy!;)

88 here and nostalgia out the wazoo. Though i still have my actual ps1 in it's carry case with memory cards and games and a plethora of OPM Magazine demo disks :D

Think i'll scour the market for some nostalgia games instead of buying this, probably cost me more than £100 to get them tho......... meh originals ftw i guess....

I certainly miss hearing "Ridge Racer TYPE 4 !!!" at the start screen....

Wish they just reuse the regular PS1 case and make a model that accepts PS1 disks and peripherals and then upscale all the graphics to 2k

I'm sure upscaling everything to 1080p would still require enough computer power to push it over the $99 price tag, which makes it significantly less attractive versus Nintendo's classic consoles, and at that point, we should just skip 1080p and go straight to 4K.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I'd still have my PS1 if it didn't get stolen, losing all that save data was the worst.

Well that's what I'm saying, getting 1080p isn't really a reasonable goal for this price tag.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Here's a better idea for Sony: Give me the whole first-party and second-party titles for about $3-5 dollars each. I'll gladly put down $100 just on the ISO's for those titles that I like. Hell, I'd give you $500 just so I can fill up my PC library with all of the games in my physical PS-era collection that I still own and store in my room.

tbh the ability to speed the games up has made me unable to play them on my PS2, too frustratingly slow lol.

I have the same issue with Gameboy Advance games (like Pokemon, the Golden Sun series, etc)... Every game I have to literally play at 4x speed otherwise it feels like nothing ever happens. I have no idea how I didn't have a problem with it when I was younger xD

Kinda pointless as you can play (almost?) all PS1 Games with HDMI and stuff on Playstation 3...

So a Playstation 2 Mini would have been a better choice because you can't play that with a Sony device with HDMI as the PS3 version that could do that,  are either all dead or loud as hell and very inefficient...

I'd rather not use PS3 or PS4. I'd like the games to be on PC or, at the least, available for steaming on PC.

Also, I really hope you bought Jumpin' Flash under duress.
