2000 Series naming confirm by Nvidia??

KiBlast9000

Unless we are looking into this too much, if you start Nvidia's video @ 0:54, you will see the numbers of the date of Nvidia's next event appear in a specific order....First 20, then 8 and then 0 after. So going by that "teaser", the next mainstream GPUs naming scheme are 2000 series. This can also be Nvdia's marketing team having fun with us.

My concern about jumping 10 numbers from 10xx to 20xx is... what happens after the 90xx series? Something tells me they're not going to go for 100xx.

There's more than just that hidden in this video! They've got clues hidden in the chat names in this video:

RayTeX = RTX, not GTX
Not_11 = they're not numbering it as the 11 series

Mac-20  & Eight Tee = 2080

And in the very last shot of the video, look how the numbers roll up for the date of the conference; two, zero, eight, then zero. All those together and we have the GeForce RTX 2080.

Thanks, but I definitely didn't notice all that on my own. Just passing on what I found elsewhere!

There's also the numbers (50.968495, 7.014026) in the Discord chat; they're the coordinates of the event in Cologne, Germany

Inb4 they abandon the current naming scheme entirely and are just trolling.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

new scheme altogether probably. that's what? 8 years away at the very least?

by then they'll be due for a new scheme.

Good catch.  Given that virtually everything in the teaser is a symbol, that's probably exactly what they were going for.

Yep, I missed that one too; AlanaT = Alan Turing, namesake for the Turing architecture.

seems like the infamous adoredtv was right again and got a good source

anyway, he also talks about RTX could mean that all GTX will be obsolote once devs pick up raytracing

Nah,  the would just end geforce and start a new lineup like Teforce Rtx 180 and Rtx 170 ?

It's not like they haven't already restarted the numbering scheme three times already... First they had the GeForce 256, then the GeForce XXXX series going from GeForce 2 to GeForce 9XXX and changing from single digit to four digit numbers at the GeForce 5XXX series. THEN they had the current series starting with the GeForce G/GT/GTS 1XX series and going all the way up to the current GeForce GTX 10XX, which introduced the GT, GTS, and GTX names. If they continue the current number series all the way until 90XX is used, then they'll just start again, or drop the current branding scheme and do something totally new. Maybe they even retire the GeForce brand for something else?

BTW, there also was a time before the GeForce brand when they had other naming/model number systems.

They usually aren't much more right than WCCF, which is throw enough crap out there and some of it is bound to be true.

The RTX cards won't make the GTX series obsolete because devs pick up raytracing, devs aren't going to suddenly make their games raytracing only.
