8086K Sweepstakes Winners?

LikeANeko

So it seems that a lot of people have received an email from Votigo <notifications@votigo.com> saying that we have been selected as a potential Grand Prize Winner for the Intel 8086k Sweepstakes.

How legit is this?

I just got an email from them this morning.

The information they require to verify the entry isn't anything useful for spam or phishing purposes (they just want your name, address, and telephone number), and it appears they are a legitimate company that handles sweepstakes.

I just registered here at LTT today because my go to forum for computer related discussion is a lot less popular than it was (site upgrade drove a lot of users away), and I was hoping someone might have contact info for either an Intel or Votigo rep. My legal mailing address changed between when I entered and when I won, so I need some help from a rep to make sure I can claim my prize.

Hi savantstrike

seems legit, I also received an email, check the company it was from which looks good, put in the details as you mentioned, no birthdays or other details which could be of any use, just a simple name and address, after submitting it said it would be delivered mid October.

I'm gonna pretend it isn't real till is actually arrives :) Will need a new motherboard, my z-170 won't cut it.

Looking forward to BF5 coming out, from what I've heard it's pretty cpu intensive. Now Division 2 needs to be release sooner too!

Enjoy your new shiny chip!! If you're in America you might be able to trade it in for a threadripper if you're quick :)

I am in Canada. I received my email from them early this morning. I too thought it was a scam, but after some research, it does appear to be legit.

On the form, it mentioned something about "to delivery it to you"
Should have been "deliver" ... that turned me off as well

Anybody else thrown off by it requiring an apartment/suite/unit as part of your address for validation? I'm not really sure what to put as I am in a house and it's a mandatory field.

Just got my email and double-checked the sweepstakes page and it all checks out, they specifically say,

"Sponsor/Administrator: The Sweepstakes is sponsored by Intel Corporation., 2200 Mission College Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95054. The Sweepstakes is administered by Votigo, Inc., 1630 30th St. STE A-530, Boulder, CO 80301."

they gave out over 2000 in the US but I don't know how many people new about it or entered.

And it doesn't make you answer a mathematical question, as required by Canadian law.

That and the sheer number of winners.

We put "No unit number". In retrospect, we should have put a bunch of spaces in. We're going to get in touch with Votigo asap and make sure it's right.

I actually got emailed on July 9th. Either people didn't respond or they were slow to send out to everyone. I did check the source of where the email was coming from and it checks out. No spoofed email header with random email address. Either way I tried for the Threadripper immediately after seeing this, but as late as I got the email, I figured they'd be all gone. Oh well, Ill be totally stoked if its legit though. Sold my 6700k system awhile back and would like to build an itx form factor for a minimalistic approach this time.

Not sure if it is legit or not. I am also in Canada and yes I had to answer a mathimatical skill testing question- as required by Canadian law. It makes it a little more legit. Now to wait until 15 Oct 18 to see if anything arrives in the mail.

I tried to get a list of winners posted by Intel but no luck. We will see.

Thought I would check-in to see if any of the other winners have received their 8086k yet? Votigo did quote a potential wait of 6-8 weeks with a final deadline of Oct 15. There seems to be a hefty amount of LTT users/subs among the winners but I'm chocking that up to Linus' promotion of the short sweepstakes window. Still patiently awaiting to see what shows up in my mailbox!
