Apple knew the iPhone 6 would bend before they released the product

I bought my first flagship phone a year ago. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro. I bought it at a sale when it was allready a year old. Money well spent imo, but i know very well it is rather expencive. 

 

Before i had had a hand-me-down iphone 4 after it had been owned by 2 other people and after that i had a Lumia 640.  After these two i wanted to try a top of the line phone for a while. I knew well it wasnt the best in terms of price/performance. 

Just as I thought indeed, the performance have been improved between flagships and mid-range. And the camera on the other hand... well, that's up to the consumer to decide.

 

Netherlands didn't sell any of the Huawei P8Max, which features a 6.8" display. KInda stupid but a bit understandable due to screen size. So I had to buy it from gizok. And then because it came from China, I had to pay for the import charges and also DHL but it got delivered 3 days later. I refuse to buy one from marketplace, full of scammers and fraud.

 

If I have to buy a new phone, it would be the Nokia 6.1 (2018) Love the design. (And it got a 16:9!)

 

Getting the latest tech is horsecrap IMHO, except for what you really want/need.

Guilty of what? A car manufacturer knows their car will be damaged if you crash it into a wall.....Apple knew that their phone would bend if you purposely bent it.....

 

In normal use, the iPhone 6 and 6 did not bend. Only in cases where a user sits on their phone, drops it from an impressive height, or manually bends the phone would the phone bend.

The same thing they're always guilty of, knowingly selling items that are prone to failure then when said items fail blaming the customer and refusing to fix their problem without charging the customer more.

 

I strongly recommend you watch this video about Apple product misdesigns that were sold to customers and then not fixed without the customer paying more money. Oh and there was that time they gave a 3 year extended warranty to a MacBook, from the date of purchase on the receipt that the customer still had to have, on a product that was already 3 years old.

I take his views and opinions into consideration when recommending/purchasing Apple devices. 

 

Some of what he says is good and objectively true, the rest....not so much. 

 

Louis seems like a good guy, but he isn’t going to change my mind about much of anything.

I do. It means that I should be able to apply force to it, and it will not permanently bend. Momentary flex if thin, but not what the iP6 does.

The reason why I don't care is because it's still a thin piece of aluminum. It will bend unless it is properly reinforced either in the aluminum itself or in the structural areas of the device. And when it bends, it's usually permanent, hence why aluminum aircraft tend to have dents if it encounters a bird strike, though that's way more force than it takes to bend a phone. 

 

Some flex is fine but the structural portions need to take the load and not transmit them to the aluminum shell to avoid it becoming permanently distorted 

 

I'd would love seeing phone manufacturers stop using the term "aeronautical-grade“. Find another way to describe it.

While he definitely has some strong preferences, he's generally pretty clear with where he's taking his data from and, so far, I don't think he's been caught lying about anything. He has berated Lenovo as well, though for different reasons from Apple - and he always explained those reasons so you can make up your own mind, even if you don't agree with his point of view. If he says he gets a lot of iphone 6+s with a defective touch screen, because the chassis got bent, I have no reason not to believe him. By bent I don't necessarily mean folded in half mind you, just warped enough that the screen gets damaged.

The thing with aircraft-a mix of fibreglass and aluminium is used for the skin, because straight aluminium regardless of the quality is rather weak and prone to damage.

Funny enough though, you can see the phone flex very slightly at the first weight he placed on it, bending it in half isn't the only proof as already mentioned the aluminum chassis flexing around even the slightest amount enough times is what would damage the screen.

Tensile strength=strength under tension (aka while being pulled/stretched). That is something that aluminium should be able to handle regardless of the quality. Problem is that tensile strength is next to useless for phones, because a phone is more likely to be in a position where it will be bent rather than stretched.

Which has never been an issue since the 6 and the switch to stronger metal. 

 

The 7,000 Series is factually stronger

 That test compares the bare shells of the phones.

Funny how both these videos are 6S phones, find the same videos about the 6 and post them.

 

You can't do that and the reason you can't is because for the 6 Apple used 6000 grade aluminium, they only switched to 7000 after Bendgate happened with the 6S & 6S+.
