Ryzen 2XXX = Zen+, 12nm (Raven Ridge is 14nm+)

The upcoming stuff is Zen+ a revised and shrunk down Zen, that´s what is Ryzen 2000 Series.

Its called Zen+ to signify the fact that it is a refinement rather than a jump due to an advancing on the design, doesn't matter much though as having it be a 2XXX sku makes consumers think it is Zen 2 and leaving the number as a 1XXX value would be even more confusing. Not much that can be done in hindsight.

Well, I hope that AMD skips Zen 4, as they discussed on the anniversery video and goes for Zen 5, that way Zen 5 will be 5000 Series, it would stop all of this chaos.

Just to be clear NVMe is a protocol. Optane (3D CrossPoint) actually uses NVMe, the difference is storage/memory itself. Intel has standard NAND flash as well as Optane. Anyways just thought I'd throw that out there!

Actually the 900p series is designed for consumers. The DC series is for enterprise use. As someone that has both the 900p and the DC4800X.

You can't really compare TDP between manufacturers.  AMD rates it differently to Intel and even if it used the exact same method to determine TDP the fact the chips are vastly different means required cooling would be different also.

Not quite niche, but not it's not common because there is a large amount of misconception as to what makes these drives great for usage. 

 

These drives are extremely fast at low que-depth calls. This is what makes a system feel quicker/snappier. Most people are stuck on the sequential reads and writes at que depths of 32 as that is what is marketed to them, however, it doesn't tell the whole story. I would certainly recommend read up on que depths, it's quite interesting.

 

Anyways though that is way off the topic at hand. I do appreciate your input though!

 

On topic: I'm interested to see if they have plans to add AVX-512 with ZEN+.

AMD says it's available on all 400 series chipsets. It uses your faster drive and ram for caching purposes.
