PC: I want something the size of an Intel Nuc that can run the latest most powerful CPU and GPU while still being cool and silent.

Display: Wraparound display that gives 180 degrees of horizontal coverage and 90 degrees or better vertically. HDR10, up to 1500 brightness, enough pixel density to not be noticeable from a normal distance, and 240Hz  freesync/g-sync support.

Mouse:Frictionless massless mouse with a real dedicated middle button that isn't under the scroll wheel and has the same activation force as the left and right buttons.

Speakers: Something small with no distortion and a flat response between 20Hz and 20kHz and decent volume.

PC: I would like a gaming and editing system that was also had 3tb of SSD storage and by then I think I will have atleast 5tb worth of externals because photo and video. I would want to stay with the Logitech g810 or g pro, a 1440p 144hz monitor would be nice. I would also need a laptop ( I would be in college by then ), I would probably want something like the XPS 13 or 15.

Console: yeah I know Ew consoles, but I would want a Nintendo machine idk if that would be the Switch though.

Camera: for camera I would probably want either the newest 5D from Canon or Something from fujifilm smiliar to the X-T2 or X-H1 in size, but with a better sensor and also the battery grip for it would be nice to have

custom desk, which should be ready within the next year, pc in the top left drawer, lock on the drawer 32" Monitor or bigger, usb 3.0 hub integrated into the desk, replaceable with a type c hub when that happens, built in power strip hidden behind the monitor. Wire Channels cut into the desk surface for clean aesthetic and easy access. Excuse my terrible freehand mouse drawing

  • Hopefully the AMD 5 year in the future equivalent of today's Nvidia GTX1080ti, either my current CPU (i7 6700) or a future gen i5 or i7, a couple TB of SSD storage and 6 or so TB of HDD storage, and 16-32 GB of ram (assuming prices come down).
  • A 120 Hz display (1440p or 4k depending on price)
  • The future version of the HTC Vive.
  • A full set of flight sim controls

All I really need is wifi, a new graphics card, and an 80+ gold power supply. We got rid of our internet last year because we paid way too much for wifi that didn't work half the time.

Custom watercooled desk PC with a motorized moniter arm, and three stationary arms. Infinity mirror section under KB+M. Main system running 4 GPUs, two of which are AMD's best offering, one Nvidia's best and the last Intel's best if they manage to make a decent dGPU, 2 NVMe drives, 2TB SATA SSD for games, array of 3 bluray burners. All knobs and buttons fashioned out of AR15 bolts. Able to be passively watercooled, if not phase change.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

I'll probably buy a pair of 27" 4K LCDs, probably Dell P2718Q's or similar to mount on my dual arms in place of the existing Dell U2410's.  And I will probably buy a 14" Ultrabook such as a Dell Latitude E7450 or E7470 along the way.

In 5 years, my server's fleet of 5 2TB hard drives probably will be at end of life (one is almost 9 years old right now!), and they'll be replaced with larger models to support the probability of needing to store video content when/if I travel more and have kids.   Don't anticipate replacing the server's motherboard unless I can pick up an Xeon E5 + Supermicro IPMI capable motherboard combo inexpensively that supports a faster than an i7-2600 CPU.   Will see about upgrading to 32gb RAM (the maximum for Panther Point C232) when/if 8gb DDR3 DIMMS return to sanity price wise.

Doubt there will be a pressing need for 10gig-E.

Don't know what the 'killer app' will be going forward.  Might downsize from a 600W PSU to a 450W PSU that I have sitting on the shelf simply because running a 14-year-old PSU continuously might be a bit of an issue.  But then again, I run a 17-year-old PSU on an Ivy Bridge machine without issue right now.

Laser printer might need replacement, its 22 years old this year, and parts are scarce on eBay now.  Don't know if its realistic to use the same laser printer for 27 years.

I'd say just something good enough that I don't waste money by custom looping it. That's all I want, I don't care about performance, I just think building is fun.

PC: What I have now, but with more RAM and a better GPU

Display: 4K IPS panel (which I have already), but maybe a nice 4K ultrawide 34" next to it. And a Windows that works with this DPI.

Headphones: hopefully still my current ones (which are DT990's, love them!), but maybe with an AMP and DAC and a closed back extra pair would be nice.

Microphone: a mic set in general

Mouse: I don't care much, but a wireless that can charge that is comfortable would be nice.

Keyboard: custom 75% board with RGB lighting. Although I want to start on that build soon.

In 5 years time... hmmm... hard one. I'll be at uni so I guess not much will likely change cause, well, money. But I can see myself having some new stuff.

Peripherals

  • RGB Mechanical Keyboard - I need a new keyboard and I love the idea of a mechanical one. Probably with MX Brown switches and all the RGB. Cooler Master have some good ones that aren't super gamer-y so I'll probably get one of them.
  • Wireless Headset - I love my Steelseries Siberia 200 Headset but I would like some wireless in my life. What I need is a sub £100 with a retractable mic. Understated look. Good sound quality. AND DUAL CONNECTIVITY!!! Why is Bluetooth so much to ask for!?! If this exists then please tell me.
  • Mouse - I'll probably have the same mouse unless my Rival 100 dies or something.
  • Speakers - I'm still rocking a pretty decent pair of old dell desk speakers but I think it's likely I'll upgrade to something with a subwoofer at some point in the next 5 years. Any recommendations welcome.

Consoles

  • I'll still have my PS4 and PS2. I don't see me having a PS5 or Xbox (Two? Scorpio? Who knows). Cause of budget and that I mainly play PC anyway.
  • Probably buy a second Dualshock 4 cause I'll be living with other people and co-op games.
  • External HDD for the PS4 cause it's not got enough storage and I don't wanna go migrating stuff.

PC

  • CPU - Ryzen 5 3rd gen most likely up from a Ryzen 5 1600
  • RAM - Still the same - 16GB Trident Z RGB
  • MOBO - No upgrade unless Ryzen 3rd Gen needs it
  • Storage, Cooling and Case - No change
  • GPU - Hopefully a next Gen Nvidia. The 2060/1160 if it's affordable enough and crypto goes and dies.
  • Screens - Probably still my dual AOC 23" 1080p panels.

Phone

  • Probably a Galaxy S10 since I'm getting a Galaxy S8 this year and I tend to upgrade to the last gen model every 2 years. (S8 when S9 comes out so S10 when S11 comes out). This is assuming Samsung don't change their naming scheme but you get the idea.

Well I just plan on updating my current Streaming/Content Creation Setup as my gaming PC is already old and I'll prolly just give it to a family member.

Current Streaming/Content Creation setup

Case: InWin 509 ROG certified Edition >>>>> No Change

Board: ROG Crosshair VI Extreme  >>>>> Compatible Board for AMD in 5 years

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X (@4.1GHz) >>> whatever AMD comes out with in 5 years

Memory: 32GB Corsair LPX 3200 DDR4  (2 x 16GB) >>>>> Hopefully 64GB of DDR5

Storage: Samsung 960Evo Pro 1TB Nvme SSD (Boot), 2 Samsung 860 Evo 1TB in Raid 0 (Media Storage, Online Game storage), 2 Samsung 850 Evo 500GB in Raid 0 (Scratch Drives) , 2 WD 2TB HDD (Storage) >>>>>>> Will be changing my 2TB HDD's for 4 or 6 TB and get more NVMe SSD's if they get cheaper

GPU: 2 ROG Strix RX580 in CF >>>>>>Whatever AMD comes out with in 5 years

PSU: Corsair RM1000X >>>> No change

Cooling: Cooler Master ML240Pro AIO >>>>> In the process of getting a custom loop.

Monitor: 2 Asus PA 279Q 27" 2k resolution monitors>>>>> I would like to get another Pro Art monitor again but maybe 4k to make my setup a 3 monitor setup.

Keyboard: Corsair K70 Lux RGB CherryMX red >>>>>>>> I actually love this keyboard so I may buy a couple of extra just in case

Mouse: Corsair Glaive RGB>>>>>>>I also like this mouse because of how the customization of the DPU is done, I just bought the ROG Spatha so that maybe my new mouse.

Headset: ROG Centurion 7.1 >>>>>> Wasn't a big fan of this when I got it but with a firmware update last year the headset actually became really great. I may get am AKG and an AT open back headset for a really need case basis when I edit audio tracks though.

Mic: ROG Centurion 7.1>>>> The mic was really bad when I first got this, but again the firmware update changed that, the mic became actually good. But I will upgrade to a boom arm mounted Cardioid Condenser mic I'm thinking of either Shure or Audio Technica.

Hopefully something new and not 13 year old at that point.

I'm honestly just waiting for GPU and RAM prices to come back down to reasonable levels until I can upgrade, I really don't want to pay the mining tax...

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

as you may know mining really isn't all that profitable anymore so there will be less people building rigs and the ones who do will have to sell them in the near future

mining with 6x gtx 1070 makes $7.50 a day (excluding electricity costs) This means it would take 533 days to reach ROI if the cost was 4000$
