It'll be a while till I can do my version of it. At least till after I go through school next year. :( Total cost for me to do this project the way I want could easily go over a grand even with all the parts I currently have.

One of the things I would need are PCI and AGP extensions (I can't seem to find any good or long enough ones... as well as watercooling equipment so I can go quite low profile for everything.

If I had seen this thread earlier, I would have made some photos of the 3 Com 10/100 BTX/M PCI Nics I had around, (even windows 7 didn't support those anymore)

I think I still have some SD-Ram, PS2 EDO Ram, well my Amiga 1200 T, well and if I dig deep enough I may by accident revive some more hardware zombies that I haven't gotten around to throw away, even though I got nagged to do it on many occasions =)

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

I'd say burn it with fire, but you seem to have the situation handled. Unless its a Celeron, then there is no such thing as overkill.

Just a few of the things I keep in my office:

A Nokia C250 bag phone with the optional car adapter. Up until a few years ago, this guy still worked until Verizon stopped broadcasting analog frequencies.

Spoiler

IMG_20171122_131305.jpgIMG_20171122_131324.jpg

A Intel Pentium4 with it's badass 1.8GHz single core and 512K L2 cache. You can look into more about it here.

Spoiler

IMG_20171122_131619.jpgIMG_20171122_131632.jpg

Several PATA drives (and a few newer SATA) that I have to hold on to for audit reasons, that range from a whopping 2GB-42GB of storage, and their original jumper positions.

Spoiler

IMG_20171122_131751.jpg

And I have even more stuff in inventory, including quite a few 256MB & 128MB graphics cards, some older modem and NIC cards, and a lot of DDR-266 RAM. I'll have to upload them later on if you guys want me to.

Picked up these two beaut's today for $5 each. :) Compaq LTE 5000 and a 5100, circa 1989 and 1990, I believe mid-90's. One or both supposedly work. Haven't tried yet...

These are great laptops, having a 5100 myself with a 90MHz pentium, 24MB RAM and a 4GB CF card as hard disk. It is especially good for DOS gaming, because the integrated ESS sound chip is known to be extremely compatible with Sound Blaster Pro, and it contains even a very decent clone of Yamaha OPL3 or "Adlib". The color display, while quite small, is active TFT so it quite useable for games while being rather small though (12" and sometimes quite large black borders top of that.) These laptops don't support CD-ROM booting so if you have a working Windows 95-98 on the hard drive it it would make sense to take good care of it (not break the installation) because it can be troublesome to reinstall if they don't come with a bootable floppy drive that can be swapped to the same slot where the cd-rom drive is.

You can always install Windows 95/98 onto the CF card on another desktop-remember, it doesn't care if you move it from one machine to another unlike any OS based on Windows NT (excluding 10).

Lets just say that once I found the best VIA, Intel and ALi drivers for Windows 98SE, I've had a certain 3.2GB HDD that's being shifted around when I want to try a different hardware config.

I don't have any pictures, but I've got an Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 1x256Mb + 1x512Mb DDR2 memory(more of that stuff on the way from a friend), an MS-7207(if I recall correctly) mainboard, some Antec 500W PSU, a first-gen SATA drive, and 2 IDE drives.

With your K7 system, just leave it with 98SE. Games will run better than under XP and you have proper DOS compatibility as well.

Edit: BTW, if you ever get a chance get an ISA Yamaha sound card (with the OPL2 or OPL3)-the driver support for DOS under 98SE is brilliant.

hmmm Kinda makes sense to do SE as i current;y have a 16MB gpu in it so if I went to XP i'd want to upgrade that to a 32 or 64 MB card. Don't have any systems yet with ISA ports sadly. Hopefully in a few months I can find a good Pentium system once I have more cash to spend. Currently my favourite PCI card is the Sound Blaster Live with the EMU10k1 chip. Sadly I only have 2 right now, Didn't know Yamaha made sound cards. I will definitely we keeping an eye out for them. How much do you think one is worth?

The good ol SoundBlaster 16 uses an OPL3 sound chip (AFAIK basically a slightly better OPL2 design), and both PCI and ISA versions of those go really cheap on eBay. Not really sure on anything else, but I have a SB16 ISA and my only complaint is that there's a fair bit of noise, but I remedied that oddly by running its line-out into my SB128 and using the output from that.
