Im trying to assemble nvidia themed "old" pc. It would be better if cards were reference models or at least Asus or others with more green colors, but this will sufice.

Im hope that Ill manage to obtain nvidia themed case soon 🙂

For that generation of SLI you may actually need identical cards....

They are identical, just different vendor/sticker on shroud.

I used to run an E5200 on the 750i board from Xfx, not sure my CPU cooler would've fitted over the 780's northbridge cooler though, had an Asus Triton perched up there. That thing was a beast, not as iconic as the Zalman though

Those stupid CNPS tower coolers are by far my favorite thing ever. Whenever money allows I fully plan on buying a brand new blue LED CNPS9900 MAX (since apparently Zalman still sells them on Amazon) for the system down in my signature. Added bonus is that the board I have uses a blue theme.

Not mine, but I happened to be in the teacher break room at the middle school in the district in which I work (we do building rotations and I’m relatively new, so this week has been my first significant period of time in that building) and found the attached gem off to the side of the room.

(For the record, it clearly hasn’t been in use in a while, and we’re a well enough funded district to have pretty solid equipment in active use)

I just LOVE Slot 1 CPUs.  I get that it has fundamental design weaknesses with the distance of the cache from the CPU but... Gosh a CPU shaped like an NES cartridge is so cool!

I've been using computers since the Windows 3.1 days (talked my non-techie gym teacher aunt into buying a Compaq when my dad temporarily lived with her post-divorce AND talked her into getting AOL, both just so I could tinker) but those hardware days were well before I was in any position to actually open anything and directly poke around, so this was honestly the first time I ever saw a Pentium II directly.  I kinda want to ask my boss to bring it home...

This is my restored and converted IBM 3101, by far the most expensive thing in my collection. The layout is a bit odd but once you got used to it, the switches make it the best thing you will ever type on. The only non-reversible thing here is the paintjob, but the keyboard was very deeply scratched in some parts and it will keep shocking me anytime.

I've got this lovely thing!
It's a Socket 3 motherboard with PCI, integrated floppy, IDE, SCSI, COM, parallel, and gameport controllers.

Plus 256K of cache.

It worked when I got it in August. I don't know if it works now since the CRT I used to test it died (just displays white no matter what I hook up, and I know it's not a problem with the 486 motherboard since I tested it with many computers).

I agree, I should probably try to keep settings the same now that I think about it.   I don't want to mess up something that has been so faithful so many yrs.    The PSU is a Delta GPS200AB (200W) and I've read some came with an Hipro HPU200EF3 power supply.  I don't know their efficiency ratings.   It seems it is proprietary PSU for the HPs non-standard wire/pin power connection.   Fortunately my PSU still works.   I'm thinking about how my capacitors are doing, I've not looked.  I probably won't try to change PSU though until I have to.  The PSU sits below the tiny motherboard in the chassis.  It's an impressive use of space.

I found possible replacements on amazon and they are 350W instead of 200.  They also have correct connection/pins/wires.  Still unsure of their efficiency or quality.  Doesn't look like a corsair type quality. 🙂

I've used a few of those PSUs in older Shuttle XPC boxes. They suck, but there really isn't any alternative to them. They weight nothing, and 350watt is pure fantasy.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

This isn't true.  Seasonic does some nice FlexATX PSUs.  I have a 200w one in my pfSense box.  Though the fan kinda 'rattled' so I disassembled it and installed a Noctua fan.

Ah, monitor doesn't scale lower resolution well. My Trinitrons would be nice but they're so heavy and fragile and I want to keep at least one of them just because...hoarder lol.

I have a BenQ though, let me get the model when I'm home. I think it's FP93GX, it was OK scaling lower resolution.

I would let you borrow to test but I sold the thing on eBay.

Got $97 for it. I probably could have gotten more but I don't care too much - the person got what they want, I got what I want, so we're all happy.

I still have the mystery CPU. I think it's a 486, but it's really weird - it has a glued-on heatsink, and there's a PCB that interfaces between the CPU pins and the socket.

I have a baby AT Socket 3 motherboard though, and that's what I'm keeping. It's where my AM486 DX2-80 goes, along with my Sound Blaster CT4180.

Here you go!

It turns out I can separate the CPU and the daughterboard.

CPU (looks like my Am486 DX2-80, no way of knowing what it is without removing the heat sink or putting it in a system):

It looks like a voltage regulator module? My dad thought it might be cache but the motherboard that came with it has 256K, and I don't see any cache chips...
