Much RAM

You can't legally say much RAM until you have at least one RAM card. This one is a mere 3MB since I don't have a third module.

Found at goodwill for $4 and gave up on it for months because it wouldn't boot from USB. Anyway decided to dust it out fuck around wifn the bios and get it going. Pulled an amd 6450 or something out of a c2d dell and installed xububtu 20.04 setting it up to function in a familiar way for windows users and left a note on the desktop to help change password and a basic intro to Ubuntu. I don't really have a use for it I think I'll donate it to goodwill again and maybe they won't pull the USB wifi card from the back I compiled the driver for the person who ends up with it. Throw in keyboard/mouse/hdmi I don't need and offer it for beer money?

While I definitely don't see that machine as being old or retro, you should be able to sell it. I sold a couple of those for $60 each a few months ago. If you donate it they'll likely at least wipe the hard drive, so I wouldn't put any time into setting up the OS.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

You'd be better off directly donating it or donating it to a community organization that can give it to the person in need.

I have an old HP Compaq Presario, It is one beast of a computer ( totally not ) its has a 165 Max Watt Bestec Power supply. A Optical Drive from Toshiba Samsung. A total of 2 GB of DDR2 RAM. A Intel dual core Pentium E2160 ( you cant see in the pictures but the processor is at 2.00 Ghz  ( made in 2005 ) ) , One 80mm fan for the entire medium sized case. It still has a floppy disk connector slot on the motherboard. And for I/O it's got some PS/2 and VGA. Of course it also has a Conextant Modem Card. And the front of the case advertised that when brand new it came with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. And the original Hard drive only had 360 GB of storage.

Ok? It's your average, low end consumer desktop from the mid-late 2000s, nothing special. Do you still use it? Did you just get it?

Fair enough. Found a sound card and put it on craigslist for $50.  Kinda tempted to hook it up to my receiver and then find a way to remote control it from my phone. But, that's probably overkill right?

I mean, if you don't have a use for it why keep it? If you want to sell it then do so, but if you want to donate it then do what @Bitter and @Schnoz said and donate it more directly. I also do some work in refurbishing computers for students, and these older Core i-series machines are perfect for a student to use for online learning.

I think there is still a freegeek in Chicago which is maybe an hour from me. Might look into that. Don't want to ship it across the country otherwise I'd be all over it @Schnoz

There are students everywhere in need of devices, more now than ever before. I'm sure that you could find someone who genuinely needed it by posting it on Facebook or something if you didn't get the chance to get to Free Geek.

Sun Microsystems UltraSPARC 1 CPU die mounted in a keyring fob.

64 bit, 143MHz, 2x16KiB cache, 3.8M transistors, 500nm, circa 1995.

I wrote my first 64-bit code in C on the first systems built using this chip, one quarter of a century ago.

I actually run a nonprofit just for things like this--we accept donated computers, refurbish them, and distribute them to underserved students. There are over 11,600 students in San Jose alone without a suitable device for online learning at the moment.

I thought you're like 15?

Probably the IRS and some state/local governments? My dad used to run one with some other people for youth and family services, he was one of the directors and there was a lot of paper work and a lot of legal and tax forms that had to be done just right to not run afoul of the law and lose the non profit status.

very similar to my thinkpad 380ED but with a non garbage display panel

That's fake, for as old as it is there isn't NEARLY enough cracked/fucked up plastic.

Made a purchase myself today... An Asus K7M slot A motherboard with an Athlon 550, picked it up from a local shop that actually has a fair bit of vintage stuff.

I didn't forget you want my Athlon, finally got my taxes done (I envy you Candians) and free time is once again free time and the USPS is no longer backed up. PM me if you do still want it. I love that it has the little short lived modem riser slot. I wonder if you can get a network card for it?

I didn't think you forgot, it was a shop I had found online doing a search for fun to see if any had old stuff (Kevin's Used Computers in Coquitlam), and went to check it out. They happened to have a slot A board with an Athlon so I figured what the heck haha. Mainly wanted the board but hey they threw the cpu in too. I still would like to grab that athlon from you, can't have too many at this point considering I only have the one set now lol.

Oh, and taxes suck no matter where you live I think 😂
