Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

TeamLTT tomorrow our brothers in arms over on the BOINC side need our help!

Please can you run the NFS@Home CPU project?

We need as many people running it as possible, there will be two other days that need running.

Currently announced days are as follows:

Start: 10 May 2024 00:00 UTC
End: 11 May 2024 00:00 UTC

Start: 12 May 2024 00:00 UTC

End: 13 May 2024 00:00 UTC

Noise? What noise? I'll just turn my music up louder. Oh look the noise stopped on it's own after that big clunk.

Set the P106-100 to finish it's current unit so I can reboot and hopefully I've got Coolbits done correctly this time! Reboot is also to finish installing flatpak/flathub stuff so I can try GWE once more to tweak the 106 a little bit and try to get a wee bit more clocks out of it since it's running superbly cool with the current fans. It's supposedly supposed to hit a full 1900mhz GPU but it's only going to 1820ish, I'd like to see if I can get that last 80mhz. I certainly have the thermal headroom and I think the TDP headroom as well.

I broke it. I don't know WTF I'm doing wrong with coolbits! I swear I'm following the directions. Argh!

Got to recovery console, deleted the xorg.conf, rebooted and it's working again. Nothing looked wrong about adding coolbits line in the xorg.conf, but I had to have nvidia settings generate an xorg.conf so I suspect the issue lies somewhere in that generated file.

All you need is CoolBits 12 (8 + 4) for Fan Control and Over-clocking. For multiple GPUs I usually use:

sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=12 --allow-empty-initial-configuration

I also wanted voltage control, maybe that's where I goofed up?

How about I do this step by step, I make a config, I reboot, I see if it works even having one in there (initially there's no xorg.conf at all!) then I try adding coolbits via that command. If you don't mind me asking, can you message that to me so I don't lose it on the forums, it's currently crunching a chonky long WU and I don't want to interrupt it.

Setting my client to advanced has finally solved my shortage. It's been suggested like six times in this thread but I was naive thinking it was a reference to the web client vs advanced client 🤦‍♂️

Just a general observation.

Looks we are having another drought when it comes to GPU work. I have received no GPU work since about 2PM ET no matter how many times I pause or restart the client. SIGH.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled. So where the heck am I?

(Apologies to Robert Frost)

it's nice to see companies pitching in. even though it's just for their own marketing they're pitching in without costing FAH anything

Let's be honest, most corporate charity work is either publicity or tax related.

I'm just happy that folding has become the flavour of the month, will be interesting to see how the network is come the end of the year. I imagine many people who signed up are not here for the long term. But, regardless, I count it as a win either way. It has really lit a fire under the folding teams arses. Client update/s, more servers, more WUs. more funding and more to come! Exciting times.
