Starting January 1st, 2021, we will be handing out awards based on new higher folding badge thresholds. These new values have been decided due to the increase of power a GPU can provide; this has made it much easier to achieve badges in recent years. Anyone holding a current badge will be grandfathered in! This means you won't have your badge downgraded after the new thresholds come into effect.    F@H Badge Thresholds In order to be rewarded with the Folding @ Home badge, please

the power draw is... something else. thankfully FAH doesn't seem to fully hammer the chip so it only gets up to about, well, i'll check... 360 watts? Bear in mind this is the lightning card.

I have 1 2070 which at stock does 1.9MPPD on 11738. The 2070 Super Hybrids do 2.1MPPD on the same WU.

On 5 RTX 2070 Super Hybrids, each fed with a PCIe x4 to x16 adapter I’m still seeing no degradation on Core 22 versus 8 lanes. Half the PPD for less than 1/2 the price of a 2080Ti (at least in Canada) on Core 22.

 

The PCIe bus is definitely more busy on Core22 than Core21 at least under Linux. Windows always reported stupidly high PCIe utilization on Core 21 so a comparison with Core22 would be interesting.

 

Core 22 definitely uses more RAM. On Linux you need about 750MB per GPU plus a bit for the OS so 4GB RAM is still sufficient for a dual GPU system but if your running BOINC on extra threads 8GB is sometimes needed.

Well guys it looks like I'm finally moving!

same... but that will take a long long time. There are still core21 projects being build because the guys building the research algorithms etc. first have to adapt everything to 22. However then with 22 they will be able to do more work in shorter time. ANNND give us more PPD for that :D

But my plan is to phase out some of my older less efficient cards and sell them off to help finance the move. So I will most probably be folding on a 2060, 2070 and a 1080. My power bill has been crazy over the last few months and with the move really need to sort that out.

Meanwhile, sold my RX580, and noticed that my 1080 Ti (overclocked +100/+200) was hitting 91C (with fan on 70%) and dropping around 20-30% units daily (this has been happening since 7th of February on Advanced client type so I guess it has something to do with some hardcore 0x22 cores). Therefore, I was leaving a lot of points on table. 

Gonna throw this computer in my warehouse (where is +5 C compared to my room where is between 22-26 C). We shall see what it does to PPD and failure rate.

DAMMMMMN Wont be able to fold until weekend. Rebuild my main rig with a. 3900x on a Strix E ... wich doesn't like the RAM (trident Z Neo)... have to wait until the weekend for different RAM to arrive :(

Well, it had really bad environment (it was really close to my main rig and they are both between bed and table - it's really tight there tbh), also it is in quite bad case (considering airflow) - NZXT H510 with 2 default fans spining at 800 rpm (max 1200) and 2 corsair fans spining at 1000rpm (max 2000), so it didn't get quite so much "new air" and it is quite warm in my room so there's that on top of 60-70% fan curve that I didn't want to be too loud (it was sitting at 55% when it hit 91C...). Also, it is usually in neighborhood of 60-70 C but this was some extreme unit... Estimated PPD was 1.9M on it and Power was around 140%.

 

Changing thermal paste will probably help, but I am going away from home tomorrow morning so I cannot get myself to do it today. However, I will probably do it next week.

 

Also, I like my OC... Not really keen on lowering it :D.

hey guys. just joined up and started folding on my newly upgraded Ryzen 3800x/Vega64 rig!!!

I do have a now unused Z87 4770k system with 2x 7970's...I'd have to get another power supply but I'm considering setting that up to fold 24/7 if I can figure out how to optimize it for that (linux install, etc)
