so far the performance on my 2080Ti has been kinda... underwhelming.

2.2M PPD. even when i run the thing in an op en environment with +1K mem and +100 on the core.

 

what gives? shouldn't this card be doing more like 3M+?

i had my client set to beta before, but i changed it to advanced now. hopefully that gives it the boost that makes it worth spending an arm and a leg on the thing

Lol yeah it's pretty bad. I use it mainly because it s much more readable on the low res console monitor I use at my server rack. 

Just white text on black background.

 

I'm gonna run it for the night on these settings, and I hope I get some good WU's.

I could probably push it a little further, but it's getting pretty toasty so I'll hold off on actual overclocking until I get it watercooled.

Yup,

 

2080Tis are great when you get a string of large atom WUs but suck when you don't. I've thought of buying some but went with 2070 Supers instead. Less than half the price but better than 1/2 the performance. The power efficiency (PPD/W), however, is where 2080Tis shine.

 

Had some huge atom Ebola WUs this morning ... on my 1060 ... >5 minute TPF

There will be, although there is no way to ensure we work on them directly unfortunately. The best way to help the effort is to simply fold more! 

 

P.S. it seems they are using the results from WUs for SARS as a starting point but I don't have any more information than that.

Of course we will never be able to dictate "Only download WU's 17141 and 17142", but do we know which WU goes to which program? That way we can see "Today we completed 3 WU's that go towards the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, which in of itself doesnt guarantee it goes to COVID-19 research, but still.

Actually there is already preferences you can set to fold for a prefererd "cause" such as "Alzheimer's" "Cancer" etc. so presumably they could add the Corona Virus to the list but this might require updating the client.

The 2080Ti is finally getting some core22 WU's!

now that PPD is more in line with my expectations for the card. still running mostly stock clocks now tough, so it should be able to go even higher.

An interesting thing 11739 is they are trialling a new algo that can be implemented in C22 that increases the rate of simulation by 2.5 times. That is why its output is so high compared to even the other C22 WUs.

Are you sure you don’t mean 11738? That’s the one that’s giving me 4.7mPPD which is well in excess of other c22 units. There’s also 11740 (iirc) that’s come out recently but I’m yet to get one of them.

There are some 11739 units that are giving higher PPD though... could you link me to where you found that info?

I'm just on my way to work so you'll have to give me a few mins but the points rewards are not directly related to the amount of science a WU produces. It is in fact calculated using a standard benchmark machine, factors that are taken into account is time for completion, power draw/heat output and in some rare situations priority of the simulation in question.

As I pointed out above, just because it does more science than other WUs doesn't mean it will yield more points. There are a number of factors that okay into the award.

As a side note and this is my speculation, as it's a test of a new algo maybe they are capping points until they can fully validate the results are as accurate as WUs without the algo added.

Hello, I installed folding@home and used the ltt team account to do folding for COVID 19 / 2019-ncov, however, it only gives options to work on 4 subjects none of which are this one.  Does anyone know how to work on this coronavirus currently in the wild?

Currently, you can't work on COIVD-19 as this would likely need a decent sized update, but I hope you still continue folding!

The best way to help in the fight against COVID-19 is to fold as much as you can, this will help to cover as many WUs as possible and will increase the change that you will assist the cause you like. In the meantime have you inputted your passkey to receive higher points rewards for your efforts?

Guys I just want to say how amazed I am that we have been managing over one billion points per weeks since the folding month. it is truly so impressive since the boost after folding months 2018 fell off for the most part after a month or two. Please pat yourselves on the back for this!

 

Now F@H has joined the fight against COVID-19 it's more important than ever that we push hard and support this urgent cause!
