If I were to be honest, I prefer the bombasticness of a V8 over the "vacuum cleaner hit by a sledgehammer" sounds of a turbo 4-banger. 

Would explain my disdain for hot hatches and Subarus.

Honestly though I think debating purely about engines is about as giving as eating playdough. Some engines suit certain cars, and suit others.

I really like the concept of hybrid cars, but unfortunately its way easier for manufacturers to buy CO2 certificates than develop and produce hybrid cars.
