Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Yeah. Have to pour some oil in the cylinders and try to rotate the engine. Then put a battery in it. Then we'll pour some fresh gas in it and try to start it. I would like to get rid of that insulation on the hood because its haggerd and falling off in places.

I don't know what you would change on it other than a cam and an exhaust.

Hopefully there isn't anything major that needs doing.

other than that its red with a white top. So its perfect.

whats the story behind that one? people didn't expect cars to last very long back then? or some other reason?

Back in the 60s-70s cars were considered to be worn out around 50-70k miles. At 100k a car was just this side of a scrap heap.

Cars have come A LONG way since then.

ummm is it theoretically possible that it has asbestos? Might want to take caution...

I know old brake pads did. Not sure about other things.

That's why the chrome notifications are so good. Don't have to do that

Doubt it. They weren't using asbestos pads in the 90s though and given that the tags were good unitl 2000. It could be but I'm not worried. Looks like fiberglass.

So can asbestos. Be safe.  Wear a mask

I doubt I'll even be able to find some but they won't hurt the ride. Just make it not corner on its door handles.

Pretty sure it needs shocks. You push on the fender and can watch it twerk for a few reciprocations.

Ugh. We'll see.

That's the whole point xD You also need hubcaps that'll roll away when that happens.

It probably needs lots of things. But yes. Wear a mask.

You probably don't smoke so keeping those lungs in good condition is a good idea.

But no. Not really my thing. Maybe in the future when i've got a kid or two

Still considering covering a case in pieces that resemble medieval armour but i'd need an anvil for that. So that'll have to wait.

So for the moment i'm just going to build myself a new pc. If all goes well i'll order the CPU and cooler in a few days.

Last night my friend who moved to Florida came back for two day and she's been dying to see my FoST. Having driven an FiST she noted the car was more fun to drive (though that wasnt Stage 3, so it's not stock for stock setups) She was fucking laughing every time the blow off valve went off and saying "I NEEEEED to get a turbo on my Miata SOBAD" (she owns a '99 i think)

I dont let a lot of people drive my car unless I know they know how to drive, so to watch someone get giddy behind the wheel was rare and so satisfying. Plus catching up over two years is always nice.

Also from last night my friend said this:

Quote

Sarah: Ive decided. We are converting this (my car) to diesel
Me: Is that even possible?
Sarah: Anything is possible if you're not a little bitch
