Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Not so much. Many modern cars have fluid filled engine mounts to help reduce the amount of engine vibration that reaches the chassis. My sister had one lose pressure on her 16 year old Focus. Replacing engine mounts is not super common, but not super rare either.

fluid filled? i've never actually used one, i don't think. i've only had to replace one mount in the protege after a pretty bad crash, because the rubber was torn on one side. that's the only time i've ever broken a mount.

@terrytek my Corolla has fluid filled mounts. They tend to not bust though, they usually fail in other ways. Not sure why. The lower mount on mine is usually the one that fails. Have to drop subframe to get to it though. Mine has been starting to move a bit (Slight vibration) :/

yeah, don't like the styling at all, especially with no grille. it just looks hideous. the model s looked fine by creating a fake grille. this just looks plain wrong.

um, uh, probably crash? because you're not really able to damage an engine mount unless you're in a car crash, though you could damage it offroading by bottoming out on a rock, but you're more likely to destroy the oil pan.

trust me, crazy v8 engine swaps with "universal engine mounts" from the ulongdindong district wont hold the engine for more than a few minutes while idling and much less while driving.

The fun for me is the tinkering and wrenching. And the driving of course.

If something breaks i think "Yay! A reason to upgrade that part!"

Or possibly "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

*Performs CPR on wallet* "LIVE! LIVE DAMN YOU!"

I personally don't get why parents get mad whenever you spend a good amount of money on a computer. But they don't when you spend the same amount on your car. Computers require little, to no maintenance. Where as a car drains your wallet like it is its job.

my parents complain about both lol

Im one to get my car completely straight. every little thing has to be fixed lol, they think im ridiculous sometimes lol

I tell them though that me DIY'ing everything saves so much that it still comes out way less than if I had hired someone to do one of the bigger jobs. still less $$ in the long run. (and also the mechanics here tend to do everything wrong as seen by my friend's mustang yesterday lol)

And she did not understand why i'd possibly need to spend 16000SEK on a computer
