Is there a way to view your Google Maps timeline NOT on a phone?

And is there any real reason that they removed the ability? You can now only view timeline on a phone. Which is stupid.

 

Some short while back, they removed Timelines on desktop, and even when I want to look at some previous stuff, I cannot be arsed to want to do so on the phone. Has anyone come up with a workaround?

It's also found under maps.google.com on the left side under the hamburger (3 lines) menu in the upper corner.

I've done those before posting. Google's site still says to pull the menu but it does not work.

Without a workaround (which is what I was hoping for) Google have taken away timelines on desktop.

Most likely. at some point in time, you opted in.

I had that warning, but my end date was a while ago, probably a year before the one shown to you. I did opt-in to make sure I at least kept the data, and also downloaded it with Google takeout. 

I was hoping there was a way to use the takeout data to look at this stuff on desktop by now.

Since you have a different date, I feel like they probably did this because I was actively using mine, and they wanted to migrate me to help whatever their end goal was, except, I haven't used it since then, because phone form factor.

Also, this prevents me from leaving reviews. A lot of my reviews came from looking at my timeline travels, and leaving the review. I'm definitely not typing a whole review on a phone.

There's a way if you know python. You can get your timeline data with Google Takeout. It comes in some weird proprietary format. There are tools written in Python which can extract and convert the data into KML or CSV format. I tried them, and failed. With very limited knowledge on python, I really couldn't troubleshoot the issue.

 

Assuming you would get data into KML, it can be added as the layer to Google MyMaps, Earth or any GIS software, such as QGIS.
