so i assume everybody heard that the next aston martin vantage will have an AMG 4.0L V8 hooked up to a manual, no? i think that's great news, having a mercedes engine with a manual, though it's not a mercedes car. :/

Nope. Two car garage. We still need to clear it out for the suburban and my dads G35 but the Corolla will be here or on the driveway for the forseeable future:

i dont one want to park on the driveway because cold starting my engine all the time to move the car out of the driveway will certainly shorten the life of it... Maybe I can just put it in neutral and coast down idk. My dad doesn't like the idea of having the car in the road but idk what else to do.

bu....but it's in such a nice looking neighborhood (i assume so by pictures), like what kind of nice house doesn't have more than a 2 car garage? #firstworldprobs

Oh yeah. super nice neighborhood. I'll take a pic of the front of our place later on if I remember. the suburban BARELY fits in the garage because it is so wide and also pretty long. Maybe my mom will get aggravated enough and ill be able to park the corolla inside instead LOL

But i doubt it. My dad will probably just make me park the suburban inside all the time if she doesn't do it

If my dad doesn't like how the corolla looks in front of the house then I'll quote him the price of a pretty paint job and nice wheels LOL I'm just happy to not live on gravel anymore because it made our cars filthy. Now they will actually stay clean for longer.

but i think the suburban barely fitting in the garage is a good enough excuse to park your corolla inside. if i had an m5 right now that's mine, my dad most likely would let me park it in the garage (though minivan and protege/corolla will stay out since it's a 2 car as well) because he'll know it's a pretty valuable car and i want to decrease my chances of it getting stolen, since i live in a pretty shady area.

My dad already said yesterday that not parking the suburban inside the garage is "simply stupid" so no that's probably not going to be the case lol. Plus it takes up more room in the road so I really have the best car to park in the road and not be on the grass, ruining it. *shrug*

put your corolla or your suburban in reverse in the driveway. that way you can coast down your driveway and reduce stress on your car/SUV.

here's the problem: if he wants me in the driveway then I'll have to go back up eventually... so a cold start and thus, lots of engine wear will occur... (and transmission since the corolla idles at 1600 cold(normal) and gives you a nice clunk when you put it in gear when cold)

Really the battle for making a car last is just cold starting it as little as possible..

you still have to cold start it to get it to warm up. The cold start itself is most of your engine wear because the oil is thick and also at the bottom of the engine. So you do get a short moment of unavoidable metal on metal each time you first start that engine in the morning.

But yeah letting it warm up before having to get on the throttle to get up the driveway would help a bit.

Cold starts are the hardest thing on an engine... Even spending your time up high in the rev range with a warm motor doesn't compare.

It's unfortunate that knowing this information makes everybody hate you lol

my dad has done uncountable cold starts in his cars, they still work to this day. but really i don't see how you can avoid a cold start, unless, say, you had an engine block heater.

well what I'm trying to avoid is unnecessary cold starts (i.e. moving car up and down the driveway twice or more a day, that's two or more cold starts than I need...)

i agree. like what the fuck is up with that? i will not drive a car tha does not have traditional rims and tires. that is horrendous.

why would you need to move it? the only reason i would move it up and down is to get a car out of the garage, and even then, i would be going somewhere with my car.

@terrytek here's our house That I promised a pic of

My younger siblings love it here lol, they've been playing outside pretty much all day everyday with the neighbor's kids. Versus at the other house they had no one to play with and the gravel made it more difficult to ride bikes on and parents didn't want them by the highway so they only had a small section to ride on.

not sure if that's a good idea. you know, it could be dry grass, dry enough to catch fire after a day of driving. if dry grass contacts hot exhaust, you're done.

Yeah! The place is around 2200 sq feet I believe. But the ceilings are like 10-12 feet high so it feels huge inside lol It's awesome. Can you see why I dont want to leave now? xD

I've had my share of small houses, also bigger ones. (I remember the 5 bedroom place my parents rented in the countryside before they almost went bankrupt. omg that house was awesome even though it looked like a giant cube lol)

The smallest house was a single wide trailer. That was rough. I hated that place lol

But yeah.. we've moved a lot. Supposedly though this is the end. After they almost went bankrupt they kinda went the debt-free way of doing things. No credit cards/no loans (Except for the house, and they had a HUGE down payment to make it small. It's just a shame they decided to do this so late lol

So yeah I had an interesting home life... I think we moved 18 times. Cant remember. It's been crazy, I hope I never have to move that much. I just want to find a place and settle down lol

we live in the extremely humid south US. The grass would be fine. But usually parking a car on grass will yield brown spots. so no, im not doing that. My car is pretty narrow honestly im fine with it where it is. Hope my dad adjusts...
