Maybe turbo, rwd conversion would take too much time and money for my goals. Plus finding a rwd trans that has a honda bolt pattern adapter would be hard I would imagine.

Alright guys, another one for ya.

Toyota rav 4

1997

Manual

2L engine

4 door

2WD

196k miles

 

The issue is that it stutters when you accelerate. It has been getting worse lately and it has nearly stalled at several intersections. My guess is that either the spark plugs are not firing, the fuel injection system isnt working, or it is not getting air.

 

Spark plugs are quite old but it does not seem like it would cause this

Checked and cleaned the air filter

Reseated all fuses and relays under the hood

Replaced all O2 sensors (fixed the check engine light)

 

Still has the same issues. Its buttery smooth when floored or a constant speed...

 

Tomorrow I might try reseating basically every plug under the hood to see if its just a poor connection somewhere. But the idiot light has not come on in at least 5 months, so what gives?

So, the model 3 is definitely going to be a huge seller. 0-60 under 6 seconds, 215 mile minimum range, supercharging and autopilot standard. Hopefully it handles well. Anyone else get a panamara'esq vibe from the front end of the car?

I remember the caddy northstar headgasket job that took like 3 weeks because of shit messing up and waiting for parts/tools. I only recall having two left over bolts. One on the ABS pump bracket which had 3 other bolts on it and was really hard to get to, and the alternator bolt from hell that everybody leaves out on those. I would say thats way more complex than that little ecoboost r&r. 

 

In other news, I found some super cheap Acura Vigors near me. Maybe a cool project car. 

yeah i honestly don't know whats missing there. could be a bracket to hold up a wire, or just a nut to hold the intake to something...

 

everything we found was easy to do, they were just lazy jerks that didn't do it and didn't inspect their own work properly. I wanted to just do it all but my friend wants to bring it back, despite me warning him they are probably gonna make him wait forever again and that's what they want so they can make more money...

Used cars already have all the weird post production kinks fixed. Especially with a new model year. Those Mustangs aren't holding any value either.

Tesla Model 3 is really gonna throw a monkey-wrench into the auto industry. I'm predicting a surge in more affordable, longer-range EV's coming from mainstream makers in the next few years... ;) They are long overdue, IMO.

I still think battery powered EV's are the wrong way to go about it..

The main problem with battery EV's is the battery tech and charging tech. They need more range and faster charging. They have made significant strides in this over the past few years, but it still needs to come further.

 

Never been a fan of the hydrogen fuel cell concept for various reasons. For a charging station, it's not a bad idea, but for on-board fuel cell, I don't think it's the answer.

If these cars take off and force other manufacturers to make better EVs, They'll still be trying to design them to late gen Y, early gen z buyers. Which means unintuitive and unresponsive touch screen interfaces everywhere!

The Zenos E10R is pretty sweet. Has the 2.3L ecoboost from ford making 350hp and 350 ft lbs
