Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Just think about the general things. Check oil, fuel, seals, any rubber pipes, bushing and suspension under the car, check for rust on the frame rails/body...

Ask for service records and stuff too. And run the VIN if you can? Who knows why it's sitting.

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600WRampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda.

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.

They're pretty reliable cars. The transfer cases are a bit weak but other than that i'd just look out for regular maintenance stuff.

Yeah look out for mods as well. And terry brought up a good point about the turbocharger. But checking play and that stuff is a bit difficult on initial inspection.

Just listen very well for any weird noises.

Some guys modify them and then put them back to stock before selling tho. Watch out for that cause you never know how much care they took when putting it back together and what stress it was under.

If i'm parting with good money for one though it better be a 500. Or cheap enough to make a 427 cobra jet swap viable.

(Yes i know. Technically a mid-size car. But still. Kind of huge)

no. I have to solder a jumper wire between two pins to make the fuel pump work lol

But I also needed to take it apart to fufill my promise to the miata community that I would get some pics of this extremely rare ECU side by side with the US one so we can actually figure out the legitimate differences between the two

So that I did.

im tinning the wire (filling it with solder...) then trying to get a blob of solder onto the pin on the board... then trying to heat the solder on the pin up and get it to stick to the wire...
