Budget used GPU recommendations

Hi, I'm looking into getting a used cheap ($50-90) GPU for my [kid's] PC. I had a RX 570 8gb and it ran great, but the kids spilled something in the PC and killed it. That was early 2020, so GPU prices went crazy. They seem more reasonable now, I'm just not well versed in all the different models, years, and generations. The games are mostly a few years old lego games and Minecraft. I would like to be able to run assetto corsa on my goodwill oculus DK2 if possible. That means 8gb memory??? I've looked at the rx 570/580. Are there any other cards I should look at? Older high end cards vs newer low/mid ones? Thanks so much for your help.

Look at the GTX1080, or even a 1080Ti for a bit more.

Yeah, you can get a good 1080 for about 125, and a 1080ti for 150, or you can go for a 1070 for about 100.

Thanks for the quick reply. The 1080's are a bit out of my price range. Would a 1070 8gb be worth the extra $$ compared to the 570/580s? Especially considering that would be pushing my budget. I've always been fine with turning down graphics settings, and my kids don't know any better. 

 

I know there's always a better card that "costs just a little more", but I really would like to keep it <$90. My original question was $50-80, but I increased it to $90 to cast a wider net.

Are you in the US?  If so, I have a Zotac 1070 I just pulled out of the kids machine in my sig, she has the 6650XT now.  

 

I'll ship it to you for $60 if you want (that's including shipping, all in).  It's gathering dust currently.

Yes, I'm in the US. That would be great, but I've never bought anything off a forum before. How would that work,  and is that something people do?

It's the same as buying from a dude off the street, Ebay, Amazon, etc.

Cheapest i can find in the UK is £100 for the zotac, £90 for any 1070. Which is $127 and $114 respectively. Ill give my thumbs on up the fact thats a great deal

Never did see what you're pairing it with?  It should serve them well, it was running Ark, Apex, PUBG well for us.

I'm going to use it with a i5 4460 in a pos dell micro-ATX mobo. All of that was freshly transplanted into my old Antec full tower from my core2quad build back in '09. I'm reusing the corsair 750w psu that I already had in the case (that's a lot newer than '09). That's all the pertinent specs I can think of. Let me know if there's anything else you want to know about.

So I finally had time to put the 1070 in. Dirt 4 is probably on of the more demanding games I have, and I was getting 105-120 fps. I also got assetto corsa working in VR on the oculus DK2 I got from goodwill. Even though it's old a crappy, the VR experience is still pretty striking. Thanks again.

They are, now that I figured out Bluetooth doesn't work very well without the antennas plugged in. Last night my son was saying "ooooh, look how smooth it is."

Yeah, no idea when they incorporated the bt into the wifi antennas, it's annoying !

 

But damn happy it's working great for them!  That's the whole point!
