Does your familie support your computer habits?

I was wondering if a was the only one with nagging family members that don't support my computer and gaming 'hobby'

Well, 50-50. My mom says,"Well,You can use the computer and also gain the knowledge about computers and gaming. but not at this age. She says i should do it at the right age. And,Not now. I should concentrate on my studies".What should i do to convice her? Any tips?

I would imagine this happens most the time.

My family look down on how much time I spend on computers/around computers and think its silly and that I am anti-social because of it (I am anti-social around most people, but only because I choose to be and I have no interest in talking to those people).  I would rather me on my own or around people wo have similar interests,  I only have one "friend" who is tech minded the rest I am hesitant to call "friends" more like people I socialise with sometimes because I have known them since childhood.  This includes most my family.

 

But anyway yes they have distaste for what I do.

My parents are under the impression that I game a lot more than I do, which I don't like, but as for the computer side, they have no problem with that.

My parents think I am gay because I do not have a girlfriend right now so I think I win! The thing is is that I do not actually play a ton of games except on the weekend.

No because I am in my room all day just looking at the monitor not doing anything and my dad doesnt want to buy me any PC parts because he doesnt like that im on the computer a lot so I understand

I do . From 3 days,my mom and my dad are going to the hospital as my grandparents have come here for some check up i think. So,they go twice a day and at that time,i play and surf the net . Pretty cool huh?

My parents tolerate it, but only because I'm paying for the electricity I use. Soon I'll have to pay for the internet too... somehow they think it's my fault they can't stream hd movies on the cheapest connection my isp offers.

On a bettor note though, you should have seen their faces when I brought home a server cabinet :-)

MY parents actually understand that computers and hardware in general  are my hobby and support me(especially my dad) but they hate it when I am on the internet all day without having studied

start coin mining and show her what you can do with your knowledge. then she will probably force you to use the pc, but you would convince her that the right age is any age

My dad absolutely hates me being on my computer, yet he spends all of his free time in front of the TV and he doesn't even know how to work the bloody thing properly.

yeah I think they support my gaming habits, I kind of know that I am getting a GTX 770 for Christmas lol I had to choose and then order it. other than the odd gift and so on I bought my pc and I pay internet, rent and electricity so well there isn't much they could say to stop me gaming on occasion. They do think that I game way more than I actually do but well my writing takes time...

Well,i think it's waste. What i can do is,just help anyone who is in need of help (computers or something like that) and after helping him/her,i will ask for money. Then show it to my mom and say, my first earnings. This is what i use computer for!

Other than the occasional "you are addicted to the computer, whether you admit it or not" I've always been pretty much let loose. The funny thing is that I don't even play all that much anymore, I just don't have anything better to do.

The thing I always think about is: people choose what they want to do on their free time.

 

Some people like sports, other like drinking, others like reading, etc etc. I(we) like gaming.

 

What I decided to do was to start working and then I started payinh for the internet and electricity bills. Also, bought with my own money everything PC related so... no one annoys me anymore.
