Update. Unidentified source says core over shot drone ship by 100 feet, you can hear at 34:10 "Center core defect on shutdown" on video

 

Center Core didn't land. 38:29 : 'we lost the center core'

It sure was successful but its kind of obvious that it crashed, elon would have updated otherwise and the video shows it.

There was a tweet with the a image gif of the Center Core crash landing. Then the tweet disappeared.

Seems that the center core has been lost, oh well, 2 out of 3 is still fantastic for this launch.

last time i checked the center core didn't have a giant ball on top of it.

Someone on Reddit made some discoveries. Maybe, just maybe, the center core is still alive, although not in a great shape and SpaceX decided to cut the video just in case things did go whoopsie.

they did recently test high retro thrust water landing recently... but that's not a falcon9 core.

Rather than calling the driver "Starman" they should have called him "The Stig"

Seems more fitting, especially given the whole point of the character is to hype him up as the "Chuck Norris" of Race Car Drivers.

I'll give you a billion dollars if that Tesla squishes you in the next 5 seconds :) If it doesn't happen by then it'll likely not happen.

 

That said I'm sure NASA is tracking it as space junk, they track everything bigger than a baseball I think. Actually I wonder if Elon could face Space junk fines :D
