NVIDIA to launch Maxwell in Q1 2014

Guest

So looks like Nvidia are going to pull some more cards out of their butt.

New models would probably include more GK104/106 rebrands. NVIDIA could launch more GK208 entry-level models as well. We are probably expecting more Titanium cards with boost mode enabled.

Kinda a lil early dont you think?

My guess is that 780/780 Ti will be the 870.

Probably just rebadged cards and probably a 790.

i kinda doubt it. I would expect nvidia to really just drag the 700 series as long as they can because the 780 and 780ti are relatively new and still highly demanded. I would imagine the maxwell cards would come out like q3

I think nvidia needs maxwell soon maybe Q2. They need maxwell because nivida needs a card around $400 that will compete with 290 better than a 780 does. If a 870 was to be 10% faster than the r9 290 and also cost around what a 770 cost nivida would be golden.

Spoiler

Is rebranding really necessary?

It was silly enough when AMD did it, now nvidia?

Still 28nm except with merged RAM?

Skip. I want the bloody 20nm cards!

AMD are raising no prices  <_<, shopowners and retail outlets are.

I don't mind getting rebranded 780 and 780 Ti's because it means that they will be cheaper. Having the 780 as an 860 would be crazy so I doubt it but it would be nice.

You guys are forgetting this beautiful thing called a a roadmap,Nvidia,AMD,and Intel release one at their conferences every few years.

Nvidia_GPU_roadmap_with_volta.png

they don't just randomly decide to do something else one year.

the Kepler refresh was planned, the Fermi refresh before it was planned. They're usually pretty consistent about different architecture every 2 years.

There is no such thing as a maxwell card with GK cards as the second letter in nvidias naming scheme is the architecture ie Fermi = GF, Kepler = GK and maxwell will be GM , they might release 800 series but maxwell is new any "maxwell" GPU will have an entirely different GPU

Can't wait for a GTX 790 but I'm really hoping there are going to be no rebrands, Maxwell is supposed to be a new architecture

I'm just interested in price. How the 860 and stuff will perform.

In aus the cheapest 760 I can find is the gigabyte windforce 2gb for $309

And that can bf4 on ultra 60fps.

Not bad for 310 in aus ;)

I don't know how much more performance AMD and Nvidia can squeeze out of the 28nm process node. On the top end parts like the 780ti and 290x power consumption is already very high.

Also Nvidia's current line up is competitive with Hawai so I don't think they would rush to get maxwell out.

amd wont be pushing 28nm anymore, if nvidia rebadge kepler with 800 series AMD will just blow them away with the die shrink, my hope is the 880 is faster than the 780Ti the 870 inbwteen 780 and 780ti and 860 wil be just shy of the 780.. that would be magical
