welp looks like they are trying to take the dual camera into the mainstream consumer market, personally i dont mind, the cost isnt that much better but still better

the name of this phone is the Galaxy J7+

ive never heard of this line oof phones 

what do you guys think of the dual camera's becoming a mainstream thing and not a 'feature' for the high end market

Samsung diversifies their lineup more so than pretty much any other OEM. It contributes to the dominance of Android. Not the quality, but the accessibility. 

 

Dual Cameras are great as long as its a optical zoom and portrait implementation like on the iPhone and certain other OEMs.

the samsung j7 is acually a really good phone for someone on a budget.  solid specs for the price and now to see an upgraded model is acually pretty shocking especally since they just re-did it for 2017

Eh, P20 SoC? No thanks. As for dual cameras becoming mainstream...it's not bad, but if they don't get the proper work put in on them, they're not that useful. All depends on the coding.

Personally I find the ultra wide angle infinitely more useful, and it's why I'm strongly considering the V30.

I beg to differ on the specs part. Would it kill Samsung to use a Snapdragon 650, or some other mid range part with a pair of Cortex A72s? Cortex A53 (only) should be relegated to the bargain basement by this point.

Not quite. It actually gets more into the frame vertically, it doesn't just capture more on the horizontal.

Very rarely is that needed. Also you could just get a lens for significantly less than the price of a new phone with that sense built in. 

 

A dual lens implementation following Apples path plus an attachment fish eye lens beats a dual lens phone with just a standard lens and an ultra wide.

Whatever, I have used them all and WP so far is the best for me.  Not sluggish, does everything I need it to and doesn't require a loan to own. If they stop making them I am  going to be very disappointed because it'll mean I have to choose between overpriced and android.

You're assuming everyone has the same needs and uses as you, which simply isn't the case. Just because you don't use it, doesn't mean it isn't widely used Many reviews I've watched have said they prefer that set up.

...A lens for what? Putting onto a smartphone camera? Defeats the purpose of not having to carry more than one thing.

I'd never carry camera attachments. Period. I also rarely carry more than just my phone. So, you're wrong there.

I'd never want to use zoom, whereas I've often needed to capture more in a shot without having to move many feet backwards.

If you're talking about bokeh with portrait, the V30 can do that as well. It doesn't require a zoom lens.

there aren't any decent cheaper big.LITTLE CPUs right now. A53s are decent for most people but the flagship Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 are a lot better.

WTF, pixel is A$800. at that point I would rather buy an iphone.   For A$199 I can get a WP that is as stable as an iphone and faster than any sub A$300 android.

 

For me there are no features on the latest top tier iphones or androids that I would use making the price tag justifiable.

iPhones are way locked down. WP have horrible apps and I would rather get a Nokia 3310 at that point. Get a nice moto or something.

What does "locked down" even mean when you only use a phone for it's intended purpose (a couple of games, surfing the internet and making calls)?  I don't really care what phone you would rather. The WP I have kicks moto arse in that price bracket.  As I said before, it's as stable as iPhone and faster than any equivalent priced android. 

 

Damn it, the only reason I commented in this thread was because I liked the idea of having some of the features of this new phone but with windows OS.  I am not asking for advice nor am I interested in what others think is a better phone for my personal circumstances.
