Reasons to buy Intel

Just out of curiosity: Let's pretend there is no 7700K. Is there any reason, to buy Intel? I mean, not even for gaming, but for everything?

 

And even with the 7700K...with the recent Updates the 7700K and the 1800X are the same in many games (Most notable: RoTR) and many programs have also been updated to use the ZEN Architecture better...so, in all seriousness: Is there ANY reason to buy Intel? Because i actually can only think of one, and that would be AVX-512 if you really need it and maybe the limited availability of mITX Boards for AM4...

each own had their own features

Outside gaming

The fact that Quicksync is Intel propriety making it a good selling point for NVR System.

Since most IP Cam software could benefit alot from quicksync which AMD doesn't have.

 

Other than this, well it's quite personal preferences.

Mobile parts AMD still doesn't even have anything, so Intel is selling Kaby Lake U hand over fist while AMD copy pastes Ryzen onto a package and circle jerks each other with 1337 5P34K names.

Ryzen is a completely new architecture/platform that has only been on the market for like 3 months.  It's not like ITX hardware is never going to become available, it's just very new.

 

Of course kabylake has a deeper product stack, it's basically the same as Skylake, which came out in mid-late 2015.

 

Other than that, Thunderbolt is pretty rad, and AMD doesn't have any compelling mobile chips yet (again, Ryzen 7 was only released in early march, and R3 isn't even out yet).

 

Once the Zen-based APU's come out, I think we'll stare seeing some nice laptops with AMD guts.

The 6700K and 7700K are basically the same. Simply Higher clocks mostly.

That is actually something, i'm kind of cross with MB-Manufactures. X299 has ITX Boards from pretty much everyone.

Right, because Intel is so much better with naming their products. Apart from that: Kaby Lake U is still the same Chip with significantly lower clocks - considering how much more power efficient ryzen is on the desktop, i personally am pretty stocked, seeing quad cores with a TDP of 15 Watts on mobile.

Intel has resources to create reference boards and assist ODM's with their designs.  AMD doesn't.  They also know they'll make way more money selling Intel gear than AMD gear, so they're going to dedicate more of their resources there as well.

Just look at the features list on an intel motherboard vs AMD motherboard.

Thunderbolt 3 is extremely useful, way better than other connectors and protocols.

Maybe you don't use it because you're old fashioned, but in the future it will be standard

I am talking about the mainstream platform i7.

i7 is better in most games at the moment.

4k Netflix is coming to AMD and NVIDIA GPUs but it is not there now

Like lowest £/performance 

Enjoy the challenge of having an inferior cpu

Enjoy delidding

Enjoy running super pi 32m fastest. 

Liked Intel back when the pentium 4 was made.

Uh...except eGPU, i don't know any feature, that USB 3.1 with a C-Connector can't do. In fact, USB-C can do a lot more, than Thunderbolt 3 in itself.

And at the moment, it look like the drivers for Intel's HVEC are rather bad.

what intel peasant grade 12 core will be slower in overall performance than the top 16 core threadripper for a good 6 months  

more mhz is an amd fx owners answer.

this point is fair enough. the current ryzen boards are poo for chioce, but x399 will be much better choice wise as well as having more lanes on all the cpus
