Just picked up the Aorus XTreme 1080 Ti and feeling kind of pissy. Does this seem normal to you?

Newegg refuse to give me a refund. I can't do an exchange because they don't have another of these cards available. Their refund policy states that they will issue a refund if they don't have a replacement in stock.

They don't have a replacement in stock, all they're offering is store credit. I'm opening a dispute with my CC company.

My Asus ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti hits around the low-to-mid 70º centigrade range, and that's using stock fan curves (which is damn quiet), with the power target maxed out to 120% and a 20 MHz GPU offset.

 

I can't overvolt my GPU at all, and what I've come to believe that all Pascal GPUs are voltage-locked, and from a Reddit post I've seen, Nvidia did this because the 16nm FinFet manufacturing process and the architecture is extremely sensitive to both thermals and voltages, and overvolting the Pascal GPUs will only cause more problems with no meaningful gain to the overclock.

I really don't understand whats the obsession of OCing your own card to oblivion. 

Does getting a extra 50hz get you 10 extra FPS? No......

Its at best maybe 1FPS in the most ideal of situations.

Depends on the card. A 980ti stock gets beat by a 1070. A 980ti OCed to the wall matches a 1080 FE. Free performance and a larger epeen why not?

Perhaps you could go through Gigabyte directly. Though they were useless when my GTX 970 G1 Gaming has stability issues at stock (removing the backplate solved that problem after 5 RMA), and I ended up with the original GTX 970 which will not run any higher than 1341MHz+also runs at around 80oC with the fans at around 78% (long story short, the GPU is just barely capable of the factory overclock-so its technically fine)

Their customer service person when I told them the card blue screens. "Okay.... what do you want us to do?" in a completely disinterested and unhelpful tone.

 

He then suggested I return to newegg.

The reference 1080ti is already overkill as far as the PCB and power delivery goes. You paid 50 bucks for a cooler. It's a fallacy that a custom card overclocks better, it just runs cooler as it's not using a blower style cooler. 

 

Return it to New Egg and get another, the issue is you lost the sillicon lottery and the factory overclock is over where that GPU is willing to go. It happens.

The issue is that you didn't bother to read any replies other than the OP. The card crashes on stock settings. That's the issue.
