Pruchase it less than MSRP, and cancel your order if they haven't already. You will see in fact that they will cancel it before you give it like 30 minutes.

Oh agreed, but that's not the point though. The point is demand for the Switch does seem to be quite low right now and the amount of units on sale on Amazon does back that up.

 

And in the half hour we've taken to have this discussions exactly 0 Switches have sold on the MP, still 326 on sale.

Haha, I'm in NE San Antonio. You'd figure Austin would be a huge market for the Switch, lots of 20 somethings and 30 somethings who make good money and seem to be the target market.

I was wrong, didn't mean tech site, meant every gaming site. You have a good review from DF on Youtube, they went quite deep. Pretty much covers most of it, even the gamepad connectivity issues. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Well, I plan on going to go get one tomorrow. Best Buy's site shows me they're out of stock, and iirc Walmart had them out of stock too, tho I heard our Gamestop has some in stock. Not sure about any other stores however. Some of my friends did tell me that there were lines to get it at our stores however, but I don't know TBH.

I think a lot of people view the Switch as a 3DS-class device, and so $300 (+$60/game) is a lot for it.

Did the original 3DS sell well at launch? A year after its launch the 3DS XL's MSRP was another $50 cheaper. 

 

Also, times are different, the 3DS was $250 six years ago. Now, phones/tablets are more prevalent in mobile gaming/entertainment.

I went to try and look for one Quebec City around 3:30PM. Went to two Walmart, Best Buy, Toy's R Us and EbGames. None were available. 

 

Though all shelves were fully stocked on all games and accessories.  

 

The store cleck at walmart told me they been sold out 10 mins in. 

 

But there are plenty availble on Kijiji for about 60$ over MSRP. My guess is Scalpers bought every single one.

The whole point of the thread was saying the Switch is not selling well, you do not take re-sellers into account for that.  You can't count them because it'll double the count and make it invalid, for example if Nintendo sold 5 units, and 5 people bought but those 5 people resold them, it doesn't mean Nintendo sold 10 units.  

 

So you can't use that because if Nintendo released 1 million units and all got sold than everyone put it up for sell, it doesn't suddenly negate the number sold, they still sold a million units.

 

If you were discussing demand and using re-sellers, it kinda works but still not really because they are selling over MRSP.  So unless someone really wants it, they are not going to buy it over MRSP.  Also on Amazon, third party users who just launched are very sus.

 

FYI I live in Houston (4th largest city in US) and just checked Target, BestBuy, Microcenter, and Fry's; pretty much all sold out within 100 miles of my location.

The Switch is sold out completely online it seems like. As for in retail, it sounds like some places got a ton of units while others only got a few. My local Walmart only got 14 of them and I believe Target was also under 20. Both of them sold out at release (midnight and 8am respectively). It's not in stock at any store anywhere within an hour of where I live. So really it all depends on your area and that makes the evidence entirely anecdotal.

 

As for the launch titles, I don't think the system's weak launch on it's own is a big issue. The Switch launch is roughly on par with most console launches. One standout title and a few other things (the eShop has bunch of good stuff though, especially the Japanese one). The problem is this time of year. Between the end of Feb and through April there are a lot of good games coming out. If people own other gaming systems they'll have to drop $360+ for the Switch and Zelda on top of other games that are gaining a lot of attention right now.
