Got My First Car!

So my birthday is Feb. 3rd and i'll be turning 17. So my parents a few hours ago called me outside to help with groceries and bam, 2012 Ford Fusion SE just sitting in the drive way. My dad bought it for me at $8,500 and it has 57k miles on it. The car was WELL taken care of, looks like it was just drove off the lot. However, condition is I owe $3,500 on it. I just got a job at the movies so i'm thinking putting 45% of my paycheck towards the car every week. Aahhhh so pumped right now!

Hahaha, kind of sorta. No interest or anything, just got to pay them back less then half the cars worth over a year or two. Sounds more then fair to me.

I really do to, cars aren't cheap and repairs are costly... I will try to be responsible when driving it. Hopefully it will last me through college without much troubles.

It's only 3-4 years old with pretty low miles on it. I'm driving a car that's old enough to get it's own drivers license and haven't paid too much :P

Here I am a near (almost 2 days away) 17y/o who still is on their permit and is probably going to have to renew it so I can finish up everything and get my provisional before I turn 18.

 

But I'm not getting very many hours so it's not like I have the income anyways. I love my new job but I hardly get enough hours.

Could be a possibility... First thing first is figuring out how to install a Bluetooth system in the car. Do I just buy a radio to put in the dash or what?

Happy Birthday.

Just got my first speeding fine after 5+ years of driving... 65 mph after in a 45 mph zone :(. No moving violations at all before that.

 

That being said it was a serious speed trap. The zone had no speed limit signs for the 3 miles I was on (or maybe I missed a sign, whatever) and it was a 6 lane highway (3 lanes each direction). Don't assume the guy next to you and behind you are going the speed limit.... When I talked to the officer he said often pulls people for 85-90 mph on that same road all the time.

Thanks! Everything you said is true except about the insurance. 17 year old boy insurance on State Farm is no doubt a killer. I have a 4.0 GPA, no accidents, and defensive driving courses that should "cut down" insurance rates... But it will be through the roof. Won't have the exact number till the 3rd.

Thanks man!!! If you knew my dad, you'd know that is the only option. Fortunately it is in better then excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. The previous owner had it detailed before he sold it.
