Price of custom built PC

Woofly94

Why do companies like Overclocker & PC Specialist charge so much for a custom built PC?

I built a standard i7 6700k GTX 1080 PC on there and they're charging nearly £2000?! you can build the same PC yourself for £600 less or even buy a pre-built system alot cheaper

Does anybody actually buy a custom PC from these companies? because it just looks like a huge waste of money when you can build it yourself or even buy a pre-built for way way cheaper.

Yeah, plenty of people do because they don't trust themselves to do it themselves.

I Mean You cant build a GTX 1080 & I7 6700k for $ 600USD  and im pretty sure you guys in europe on here are always bitching how we have such cheap pricing.

Many people dont Want to invest in the small amount of time or care to They just buy what works. But i would say no they dont sell a large QTY of Pcs like this. Everyone has Items they Spend more on that they could do it them selves. Wheather it be Cooking food Remodeling a house maintenance on a car. theres some things people pay others to do that are not huge amounts of work or knowledge. If you spent all your time doing that youd  have much less time to yourself

Similar Idea to buying vs biulding a house. Sure it costs less to biuld, but it also means time and work for you. Furthermore, you can often get a warenty on the whole pc, rather thanthe individual parts, which can be benificial. Linus's Best buy prebuilt vs. custom pc outlines some of the pros and cons on both sides of this argument.

I'm with you on building a computer instead of a custom made one, but people get custom built sort of like how a lot of people don't want to do repairs, or clean their car themselves. They do it because they would rather spend the money, then time. Custom builders also usually offer some sort of warranty, or customer support where you don't have to diagnose your own computer.

ah i see Not as weirdly Different Haha But i revised and noted why many do pay imo. $600 is a little high but there are cheaper brands that youd only pay 2-400 more for at most

Companies do it, becasue there is a market for it. Some people are okay with spending extra money on labor and peace of mind. It is a huge investment for some to learn how to do it on their own; their time is very valuable.

4h or less of your time isnt much tbh, and its fun to build PCs

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler
