The R9 290X is going to generally be the faster card although the GTX 780Ti still puts up a good fight by topping it in a few games. Plus, 4GB vs. 3GB.

I agree with the people above. Both of those cards are close to 3 years old. You should go for the RX 480-470 or the GTX 1050 whenever its out. You get better support, features and a warranty compare to the used cards from a shady source you are probably considering right now.

I would highly recommend a 480 or 470 instead however.

Since both are reference I would advise to avoid them both and get an rx 470 or rx 480. If the rx 480 or 470 are expensive where you're from and you have to choose between the 290x and 780 ti I'd take the reference 780 ti over the reference 290x.

I've been trying to find a better alternative for the things you listed. Funny thing is that I stumbled on something that might interested you in the forums. Go to HOT DEALS in the community and you will see a post on EVGA post on B-stock non reference GTX 970s for 169.99$. More recent with a 1 year limited warranty with similar performance to the 780ti.

You literally suggested a card that performs at best the same as the reference and lives up to it's name in temps.

What cpu do u have ? 

Because amd is shite on midrange CPUs compared to nvdia 

all the bench marks u see between the cards are all done on top end i7's 

and the i5's and 3's struggle more with amd

and if u have a fx chip then nvdia hands down

A. I gave you the benefit of a doubt since a 290x will out perform a 470.

B. Same cooler, same manufacturer. Runs hotter and offers less performance than the MSI and Sapphire offerings.
