@Jumper118 @DildorTheDecent Used 5820K for $155. Good deal or?
Don't have X99 though, so I would have to start looking at a later point.

That's pretty good. Doing a rough currency conversion (straight USD to GBP)it works out at £111. Most here sell for £120+ or so on eBay (UK).

Should be fun trying to get a board + DDR4.

Get a gigabyte x99 soc champion while they are still cheap. The cpus prices only go down but boards will go up so I would get a board first.

Also don't get any hasweasel e unless it's j batch. It could end up doing 4.3ghz at 1.4v otherwise.

Don't even know what j batch is :P No X99 boards to be found in Norway, only packs with CPU/MOBO/RAM combos...
Think I'm dodging this one, even though $155 5820K isn't bad -_-

On that note... know of any cheap new X99 mobos? I have 14 cores sitting idle... Xeon so no OC fun though :(

Can't remember if it was on this or other forum, I got a j batch not that long ago (used) and it would only do about 4.5 at sane voltages/cooling. Totally unstable above that.

I do also sometimes get jaelous, ive seen people with 5.2 @1.32v completely prime avx stable. But you get what you get thats just how the lottery works. When i bought it, i had to wait a long time for my board to be delivered so i googled the batch and mine is from a "crap batch" alot of "not higher than 4,8GHz" chips in it. So i consider myself lucky AF :D

But if i knew that some germans on forums bin and sell them, i probably would have bought a binned allready delidded one from the forums, they actually dont demand huge price premiums.

Well im from germany, so i bought it from "german stock" at ebay. It took only 3days but i also paid ~twice the cost for it. Already delidded 3CPUs with it (2 from friends), still works, cant tell anything bad about it for its price. Wish you good luck that yours will arrive soon.

1.32v for 5.2 ghz sounds way too good. Not even silicon lottery sells those kind of chips!! :o:o

Your chip is good enough! I'll have to look into my chip data because mine sucks lol. Needs 1.345 to be stable and I use 1.35v just because I get higher benchmarks with the little extra juice. I use avx = 0 though, I wouldn't mind hitting higher frequencies but I am thermal bottlenecked at the moment. Anything higher and I start reaching the 90c's.

All I can do is wait for china tool to come so I can de-lid and see if I can push my chip to it's true potential. :$

Well its hard to compare silicon lotteries numbers, because its a quite strange testing methodology with an undersized cooler in a climated room using realbench for 2hours and using AVX offset, they also have to consider variances of the boards and give you a warranty for the tested parameters. Stability remains relative.

Best 8700k's however can do the 5GHz nonAVX primestable @1.152v. atleast the one's ive heard of, My 8700k needs about 1.248v to 1.264 (80/80 small FFT's nonAVX 1h+).

But yea im pretty sure sillicon lottery would sell mine as "5.2GHz version". Its not that im dissatisfied with my chip, i just didnt won the lottery either. Ill maybe consider running it @5.2 with 1.344v when upgrading to a full custom loop, right now im running it @5GHz 24/7 hitting 60-65°C in the hardest "real world" workload i actually use (streaming 720p60@medium+playing pubg). Without a customloop i wouldnt run it above 1.3v, but thats just me.

Im just not comfortable enough running it @5.2GHz 24/7 with 1.344v without having enough cooling headroom for AVX instructions or using the buggy offset option. But with a customloop i might try to get it stable enough @5.4GHz to make a Cinebench run, i guess it will need atleast 1.4v to get it there.

No but you can look at the top scores on cold and water on hwbot to see if they put the batch number in the submission

https://community.hwbot.org/topic/83438-ib-e-4930k4960x-batch-and-serial-numbers/

3331B514 5.6Ghz cinebench @ 1.7v - LN2

3331B514 4.6Ghz vantage 1.335v

^ Same batch as me. How the hell are they doing that, and I can't get 4,6 @ 1.6V???

Can there be so big differences in chips with same batch?

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12
