Where you from? What's it like? Describe!

xentropa

Where are you guys from?  What's it like?

I guess I will start.

I live in Sendai Japan.  I guess it is most well known for the giant earthquake 5 years ago.  That flooded Fukushima nuclear power plant is probably 50 miles south of me.  It is just a middle sized city, but I live in the outskirts where it is a bit more rural and having a car isn't a headache.  Weather is colder and the terrain is mountains and pine trees for the most part.

Well, I'm from Hong Kong, but I haven't lived there for 18 years.

I guess it's very urban, in that there are buildings pretty much everywhere.

Currently, I live in Denmark. It's rather cold and windy (especially today). The landscape is flat and covered in fields. The forests that are left are well groomed clusters of trees where nothing is left for nature to decide.

The people tend to come off as rather cold and uncaring, but I would say that the people just like to stick to themselves.

I live in San Antonio, Texas, USA. It's not as compact as Japan, and with a lot of city, there are lots of suburbs, and after that, a lot of rural (farm or ranch) area surrounding. It is one of the biggest cities in the world, with over two million people, but it sure doesn't seem like there are that many people here. It is usually a very warm climate, seeming like there is mainly summer, and it only snows maybe once in a few years, if at all. In the summer, it usually hangs around 30 - 37C, once in a while hitting 47C...

In Dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty...

It was nice I suppose, the weather sucked but there was something very comforting about living in my native land.

I'm from Monterrey, Mexico. It is located in the northeastern part of Mexico, just a mere 2 hours away from Texas, less than a day away from Dallas Texas if you drive in fact.

So it is actually fairly close to the climate on south Texas which most of the year goes from warm and hot to "Fry eggs on the asphalt" hot (40c is common, 48c is not unheard of in the city)

My city itself is actually fairly large: closing in on 5 million people. So it's a proper city experience: lots of tourist attractions, booming business, heavy infrastructure with busy highways all around the city and lots of crime and violence. That last part has gotten reasonable but about 5 years or so back we had drug cartels torching up a Casino and burning over 50 people alive. Seriously.

But things have gotten better, the night life has died down a lot after that but there's still plenty to do and as a city person I would never dream of living on a smaller city.

Edit: Adding a pic cause why not?

I'm from Trollhättan, Sweden

Well. The outskirts. One of those communities where everyone knows everyone.

The people like to stick to themselves and are sort of anti-social. But after you get them talking they can be nice.

We're nearing summer so it is starting to rain quite often.

It is the best part of the year though. Spring. It is slowly getting warmer^^

This is the north so the winters can get really cold but the summers are pleasant.

It feels safer than Canada due to there always being people around you

People also feel more part of a community

It has very slow internet

It is also hot and humid but not extremely so

Government is corrupt (thanks Reagan/bush/others)

I live in Attleboro, Massachusetts, a city in southeastern Massachusetts with a little under 44 thousand people living here. There's a few historical buildings dating back to the 1700s around and a lot of jewelry manufacturers are based here. It's also pretty quiet here.

I don`t perceive 100mbps up/down as fast, for example the people in Romania next to us have gigabit net for the same (or less?) money, so yeah.

But still... here is some stats for the last few months

bAjbTMs.png

And no, almost all of this is not from tv series, movies or music. It`s anime, a lot of it. xD (and some x-rated stuff хD)

A9k8Mp0.pngxD

I would be truly happy if our average monthly salaries were not around 280€, haha. :(

I live in Rio Pardo, a small rural and historical city right at the middle of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Very small, only 39 thousand inhabitants, good place to live.

Some people reunite at night and race classic Chevrolets and Fords (Opalas and Mavericks, mainly) on the long stretches of road around the city, my truck can keep with some of those vehicles...

I live in a town called Burgess Hill in the south of England. It's not too bad. About 1/5 of the shops in the town center are empty due to increasing rents. The college I went to last year is due to close at the end of the academic year in 2017 due to somehow getting £25m in debt. Shitty weather here (it is England after all...).

I lived all over the Netherlands but for the most part and the part I identify most with is the Veluwe, I know many of the forest areas pretty well and it still feels like my real home even tho these days I live in the Flevopolder.

Edit 1: apparent I am to share my speeds here as well:

I'm from Chico California, USA. Take your knowledge of California and big cities, throw it away. And imagine normal towns. Boom. I'm near a nice canyon which is pretty cool and a moderately sized town. Bout normal for California I'd say.
