I personally think this is amazing. I will certainly be using this a ton now! They've been doing Binge-On (exempting video streaming from your data) for months now but they never supported YouTube. It's finally partnered!

Eh I find that I don't watch enough videos and stuff to need that, then again I've found that 5GB to 6GB of Data is enough for me.

I kinda hate that trend though. Like this count, that doesn't. In the end, we'll end up with a "limited" internet usage based on partnerships, smaller websites and services left behind.

 

Just give us the data and we'll manage where we want to go.

Just give us the data and we'll manage where we want to go. 

You're still free to do that if you just opt out of the program - and then it'll be just like any other carrier.

Its affordable in the UK - unlimited data (on the phone only), unlimited texts and 200 minutes starts at £17-£20.

 

I have that with 600 mins for £22 pm.

 

They used to allow unlimited tethering too but they stopped that and put on a 4-12 Gb tethering limit, but they also added all landline numbers (01, 02, 03 and 08) to use the tariff's minutes, so theres no extra charges unless I go over 600 mins.

I just hope I will see the day data caps are eradicated.

I imagine Twitch would be somewhat more complicated to do since it's a live service and the traffic isn't as predictable, but I'm sure they'll figure it out in time.

The post of t-mobile is quite vague which might be an indication it is against net neutrality...

 

And if it is, enjoy while it lasts because it won't stay, and if it does stay, we will all have to pay the price for that eventually.

And whatever that price might be, it won't be worth it.

Unlimited mobile data isn't a thing here D:

Seriously , even ~90 EUR plans (which are ridiculously expensive compared to everything else here) have about 12 GB of internet.

 

I pay 5 EUR/month and get 5 GB/month, which is fine by me. 5 more GB is like another 2 EUR.

Well Twitch also haves certain bitrates of certain quality options as YT so.

I just hope to see no data caps on mobile one day. For start a significant increase would be appreciated on data plans, cause every one of the sucks completely for price.

Point is, you're paying for some services and some get a free pass. That's not the internet I want. I know you can still do what you what but you're paying for it.

Pretty much against yeah. Like that's the whole point of it. If traffic gets prioritized (speed or cost), it's not what I call neutral. 

 

We'll see how it will be enforced. It's not like it's first deal of that type though. Here in canada we got some too. Mostly music services like Spotify, Songza... Sucks that streaming from MY OWN machine with plex ain't free. Doesn't seems like the carriers are about to make a partnership with me either

That's cool. Here in Canada, it's roughly 100$ per month to get 5GB.

Why can't Fi offer this?!?!? One, it uses T-mobile's towers and two, they own Youtube! Makes sense to me

 

I can only hope data goes the way of sms and unlimited data becomes standard soon :')

I was about to mention this. Options supported under the Binge-On! program stream at SD resolutions. If your phone is tiny or you do it just for the audio this isn't an issue, but if you are looking to hook your phone up to a TV or for use on a long ride for a movie, its a pretty terrible deal.

I'm working for T-Mobile/T-Com atm I've seen a few things, and while I agree from consumer perspective I can understand them business wise. Everyone would just use Viber/Whatsapp/Skype for voice calls and messaging and most service providers would most likely go bankrupt due to no income from standard services. And if you're thinking "But phone sales", those are not that good you can easily buy them from many retailers. These are not easy times to be a phone carrier.
