This isn't so much about nVidia technologies running poorly with AMD hardware. This is more about the fact that they disguised HBAO (a gameworks feature) as normal AO, and you cannot disable nVidia PhysX even if you try (which makes the game guaranteed to run slower on AMD hardware than on nVidia hardware, even if you do realize that the ambient occlusion setting is actually for HBAO).

FTFY. You really need to understand things in a broader perspective. Majority of anything is never an argument, that is relevant to shit on the minority in any subject.

GameWorks shit on the performance on ALL systems, including all NVidia based systems, especially Kepler based ones. Look at modern games, where 780ti's are getting rekt by 290's. That's a 700$+ card getting owned by a 400$ one from the same generation. Welcome to planned obsolescence. Nvidia users will quickly get to know it when their Maxwell 900 series cards will crap themselves in real DX12 games this year, and when Pascal launches.

Only the basic physics system, not the APEX based graphical effects. They are mutually exclusive for CPU and GPU.

Well yes it can, but than everyone starts yelling AMD drivers have more cpu overhead. And if it's so bad the cpu becomes a big bottleneck, than i think you know very well what happens.

It's even worse than that. In some cases the 960 beats the 780... (not the ti, but still 780 was expensive) 

Can you imagine a next gen card priced at 200 bucks beating the 980 and destroying the 970, the currently most populair gpu? Would be insane...

But with nvidia i won't be suprised!...

The article has since been updated. Want someone to blame? Blame Microsoft and their developer, they're taking a shit on AMD, and don't care if they need to use NV tech from the looks of it.

 

Seriously, until MS sort their crap out with anything on the Windows Store, just avoid it all.

Hell, HBAO+ tanks my framerate in Fallout 4. And the weapon debris effect is even worse.

 

Even though I have a 970.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

All depends on the developer; in Rise of the Tomb Raider it only dropped FPS by 6, and even then the Fury X had less of a performance loss than a 980 Ti using HBAO+.

This is entirely on MS and their amazing care for PC Games and gamers. Mix in their useless UWP walled garden, and you get mess like this.

Anything that goes on the MS Store or is even remotely linked to UWP should be avoided. Their "patch" to fix the issue didn't, it simply disabled HBAO+ as well.

Everyone is saying "Fuck Nvidia" or "Oooh lets blame Nvidia"... Have you ever thought that maybe... just MAYBE. This isn't actually Nvidias fault. Its the DEVELOPERS fault for naming it incorrectly in the first place. Nvidia provides its tool set to developers and its the developers decision on whether the tool is used or not. Epic used the feature and quite clearly named it incorrectly.

 

In short, Nvidia is not to blame for a developers short comings.

I had a 6 fps impact with Purehair set to Very High vs Off on my system with my 980Ti, and OC3D reported ~7 fps difference on the Fury X.

Every game that's launched on the Windows Store so far has been a broken mess and doesn't even have same capabilities as the exact same game bought from elsewhere; Tomb raider being a Prime example. 

No fullscreen support, no mGPU support, no access to the game files, or config files, and performance issues. Is that also NVIDIA now? Or is it MS and their terrible UWP system?

That's literally MS there. No one can access the game files or configs. The UWP system their store uses hides everything, and if you manage to get access using a bootable Linux flash stick to explore the files; any changes you make is automatically reverted when the game is launched in the Windows Store.

 

This how MS designed UWP and anything that goes onto their store has to abide by it all. 

Which also includes only running in Windowed mode, no mGPU support, no API hooks, no modding, no overlays ( no performance reviews or benchmarks except if the game has a built in one ), and more.
