Fabulous!! If I saw that SSD anywhere other than Newegg or NCIX i would assume its fake, or just really really dodgy..

If you really value your rackspace, I guess, but I bought my 250GB 850 EVO at a lower per GB cost a year ago.

Wow, that price is fucking awful.

Right this second about 8 terabytes of SSD storage costs about the same price as that single 3.84 drive.

 

I don't care what fancy pants magic they came up with for that, they are bananas for charging that much for the drive.

$0.10 per gig by the end of 2016 is real

and both WD and Seagate and the others...

are  just too big to die out like that they will keep making cheaper hard drives with more storage,

like 20TB HDD for $300 woop-woop 1.4 cents per gig

So its 55c per GB. But a regular 1TB 7,200rpm drive is more like 7c per GB, so still quite a way off for now.

 

Its good to see these mega capacity SSDs coming out as it pushes down the price of mainstream drives. We're getting very close, very close to the time when it will be cost effective enough just to purchase a 1TB SSD rather than the 128/256gb + 1/2tb drive config most people run.

Well, like the video says, this really isn't aimed at consumers.

 

Anyway, if I did want a reasonably high capacity SSD, Samsung already offers the 2 TB model for ~$620, which isn't too bad.

Wow, that price is fucking awful.

Right this second about 8 terabytes of SSD storage costs about the same price as that single 3.84 drive.

 

I don't care what fancy pants magic they came up with for that, they are bananas for charging that much for the drive.

This drive isnt geared towards the PC community or the gaming community. It is ment for high density in small form factor. If you were to need say 150+TB of SSD storage then this drive would more than do what you want it to. It will save you rack space in your very expensive datacenter and make for a better server over all. 35 SSDs of space vs 60+. That is if we compare them to the 2TB Samsung drive. 120+ if you compare to the 1TB from Samsung. 35 SSDs will fit in a 2U server if it is built right. or if you do 150TB in raid for redundancy then you need 60 of these and would use a 4U capacity. So 4U instead of an easy 8U to 12U.

 

xU is the slots in a rack on a datacenter. Most racks have 40U or so. Not sure if you understand the uses for this or not.

On the topic of trueley amazing technology in storage, what about DDR3/4-based PCI-e storage? I've seen DDR2-based technology a while back, but I think that was just PCI.
