I've seen this guy before and I now remember why I ignored his reviews. He says a lot of dumb shit.

 

"390 achieves 15% overclock, but 970 achieves 20% overclock"

Yea, let's spit out vague numbers, but not go into detail of what those numbers actually mean, because bigger numbers are better. A 1200 MHz 390 is the same as a 1500 MHz 970.

Gigabyte 390 stuck @ 1025 MHz and also throttles. Good joke. I'll refer you back to JayZ and DigitalFoundry's reviews that don't use a shitty card.

Did he mention which model he used for 390 and 970?

Yea, and you can even see it as the video is playing. Gigabyte 390 vs Gainward 970. I don't know much about the 970s so I don't if that's a good one or not, but that is definitely the worst 390 along with the strix 390. 1025 MHz, doesn't boost, voltage locked and even overheats at that speed.

Good catch. So he's a liar and is using an R9 290 in his benchmark. I can't believe I didn't notice that was using the old cooler. So it could either be the 974 MHz or 1040 MHz SKU, both of which were also voltage locked and couldn't cool for shit. Watching it again, he never mentions what cards he's using and I just assumed looking at the cards on the table since Gainward doesn't make AMD cards. I'm assuming those are the cards he used, otherwise I don't understand why he has them on the table next to him. @App4that I guess you have to do a little more digging for outlier benchmarks to support your nonexistent point.

Also i know Nvidia has better game support just because they copy ea and dont share

390. Don't support Nvidia and their massive money grab. The cards performance comes down to the wire, the 390 edges the 970 out just a bit, but the reason you should go with the 390 is because Nvidia are a bunch of sly assholes.

Lol. It's just a graphics card. Either way you'll have a great gaming experience. No point in arguing over it when there are established facts online and you can look for yourself. Also depends what you want and your needs.

No, they're not equal. If you like Nvidia features like PhysX, HBAO+ or TXAA, buy a 970. If you want the best perf/$, 390.
