Anyone who looks at benchmarks when buying a phone needs to rethink their life.

What Why? I am a tech enthusiast.. specs and performance matters to me ..so you mean looking at PC benchmarks should be the same thing?

Somebody cannot call something overpriced in one breath, then say benchmarks are pointless in the next...

Its EXPENSIVE, yes, I never said it was cheap, but its one of the best phones on the market, and priced accordingly, so is anything high end, i am happy to pay the price for the quality, performance and design of the device,

Yea don't get me wrong. I've owned multiple iPods, an iPhone. I still own an iMac and I LOVE my macbook pro.

It's just.... Man the price and those apple fanboys... smh

As I say, for what you get for your money I dont think all apple products are over priced, the base level Mac Mini is, the base level imac is, and I think the mac pro is, but otherwise I think they are fine (expensive, very expensive, but fine)

You know what? I declare the the end of tablets! Who's with me?

:D

Hell no, I spend more time on a tablet and smartphone than I do on my own PC

Hey guys who are talking about OS X and MacBook and stuff, Cook is declaring those dead as well. He didn't say it was the end for Windows, he said the iPad Pro could replace desktops and notebooks.

I think that's an idiotic statement. But he just said that to hype the iPad Pro. I don't think he actually believe that bullshit.

Hmmm I wonder about people who use office applications. Heavy word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, diagrams etc... These people are not enthusiasts, there are hundreds of millions of them working in offices all around the world. Will they be satisfied with an iPad plus peripherals?

I think this is very personal in a way.

But as you said, you're a tech enthusiast.

Rather pay 1K for a dual core cpu with 1GB ram and 1.8K mha battery?

Or pay 300 bucks for quad core 2.4ghz, 3GB ram and 3.1K mha battery?

You've got the wrong man! I'm innocent! I  never called it overpriced (although I probably should have)! But it's a phone. It's not a PC, it's not a laptop. it's a phone! If it does what you need it to do then that's perfectly fine. The problem is when you're getting very little for your money! Or when you make the mistake of thinking that a phone is a laptop or PC when it's neither.

He's declaring the end based on his belief that people will be so amazed by iPad Pro (and only iPad Pro) they will stop using PCs. Makes sense.

Isn't a Mac technically a PC? Just saying.

Many office workers use laptops or desktops and this won't change their mind. My dad for instance thinks that an Ipad is stupid for taking notes and doing school work. He never uses his. He either Uses his phone or his desktop.  ANd they probably are hyping it up since it's their second most profitable hardware product.

True, you can customize a PC. Ops.

If there is no need for PCs there is no need for Macs as well. Or Macbook Pros. So they will be killing themselves as well by that logic.

Apple believes the future lies within Mobile OSes instead of desktop OSes (hence why they put no effort into OS X)

I AM speaking for myself, and I am telling you why the price is not an issue for me, also I can just plain afford it, I pay £60 a month for my 128gb iPhone 6 with 30gb of 4g, unlimited calls and texts,  - its a very important piece of equipment in my daily life

The trends are changing, people are using their phones and tablets for menial tasks, browsing, basic gaming, social media etc

That is just what MOST (none business) users use their devices for, and that is why the PC market is in decline

its just a fact

HOWEVER - PC gaming IS growing, so that is an interesting thing too, since that strengthens PC sales

Ya that's kinda the attitude I have. I do a lot on my Lumia 930 smart phone including note taking in meetings. But when there is something which cannot be done on my phone I jump to PC. No tablet inbetween.

I never said you were wrong, people do upgrade the PCs less often, but that has always been true, the market would be stable, the fact people use their phones and tablets for more, means they are less likely to upgrade their laptop

Many people might have an old laptop, and instead of upgrading it, are buying a tablet, because it does what their laptops do, and they can use the old laptop for just a backup device or writing a long documents etc

As I said, the market trends are changing

Heck if the online infrastructure was there I really can see things like Nvidia grid taking over from gaming PCs, if I could just connect a $100 dongle to my PC that lets me stream every PC game in 4k to my TV, for a subscription cost, I would do it in a heartbeat

On the very long term the argument is also a lot about semantics. Let's say in fifteen years from now if I come home and put my phone on my desk, it seamlessly connects and outputs to my 27" monitor, my VR headset and my keyboard, mouse plus speakers. At this point has PC died? Or have phones become PCs? It's more of the latter IMO.

I thought Apple marketing was a joke, now I know their CEO is a clown. Why can't people see their being robbed for such a pos device when you can get something better for a hell of a lot cheaper.
