Basically to cut a long story short, some guy was selling his old pc he used for cad work etc.... for £200, they specs were decent as they were some haswell i7, 16gb of ddr3 ram(not sure which brand) but when i went to pick to up, i relied that it much much better. Inside his pc was a  amd radeon 295x2.... So now to the question, WTF do i do with it.

If he sold you a pc with an extra part in it thats kind of his problem, however if its gonna bother you maybe give him some extra cash?

Alot of you guys are suggesting folding at home, i could do that, though i think id replace the stock cpu cooler and buy a few more fans first

It's possible to set it to only fold on the GPUs you need.

You definitely did not steal it. It's the seller's fault for leaving it in there. 

 

What's the seller like? A settled business? A poor guy who just needs money? A small starting business?

 

Depending on that, you can judge whether it would be a good idea to return it for free, return it for a compensation, or not return it at all.

 

As to what you can do with it, you could sell it for profit, or give it away to someone close to make their day. Your choice!

Let's say you bought a 128GB SSD from Newegg, and you got shipped a 256GB. That's on them. Same for this guy, who probably forgot that GPU was on his PC.

You should sell that GPU while it's still relevant.
