Blizzard releases World of Warcraft: Legion Cinematic Trailer and Release Timeframe

Personally I think that this expansion's cinematic trailer is pretty cool but then again so is every expansion's cinematic trailer.

Summer of 2016 is when Blizzard should be releasing Legion, and pre-orders/pre-purchasing is available now.

While I do know that pre-ordering isn't the best thing to do, at least there is a little benefit and that is early access to the new Demon Hunter class.

 

The prices follow Blizzard's usual US$49.99 for the regular version and US$69.99 for the Collector's/Deluxe edition.

I still want PVP and even stable hardcore servers for Diablo III. I have a friend from Singapore who still dips high latency from time to time and that's with 1Gbps internet.

I expected it summer next year, like June. But wow, it's nice to have early access to Demon Hunter for sure. Most changes I'm happy with, some are still unknown but I hope PvP will get more attention though beta and after release.

Like not doing stuff like Hearthstone and Overwatch and focus on WoW, D3, and SC2? Because it's kind of weird to think of Blizzard being a console and mobile developer now (Overwatch will be on Xbone, PS4 and PC... Hearthstone is on PC, iOS, and Android.)

That wouldn't ever happen, the price of the expansion pays for the development and everything else that goes into just getting the game out there and the subscription is for maintenance and customer service (and maybe even a little profit too).

You forgot that D3 is already on Console  and really its nothing new, D1 was on console, Star Craft was on console, some of there first games ever was on console.

Blizzard was never Pure PC.

Don't pre order this game wait for launch, it always go's wrong at launch and there always issues.

Fair enough. Although I think the way the workflow is there they switch people around in teams. I'm not saying they stop developing content for WoW, but because of how the playerbase has declined I think they should develop less/develop the same but space it out more. or smth.

Ofc ofc, they definitely have people going from one department to another, but that's like just a small group of people, like designers or animators. Teamwork ftw!

But the more in Core members cant move, they are the crucial people after all and they are probably the larger bulk of the manpower.

 

 

To be fair, IMO the game is pretty meh due to the combat, but whats keeping people coming back and then leave again is the lore, the story, THAT kind of stuff, not combat or PvP. they want to know whats up, whats is going to happen in the world and so on. 

 

Then there is ofc Guilds, friends. bla bla bla, it is also to be fair the best of its kind. Most "big" new MMORPG´s this past years are trying to be the same but they are so TINY its just a waste of time even trying to compete. (SwTor was ok but that combat system Imo ruined it)

Not to mention the lack of innovation in those games, like Jesus fuck give me Action RPG elements (Thank you Black Desert) Point and click died a decade ago.

They have had similar issues in the past with previous launches, they never learn.

There really isn't a lot they can even do about that. The simple reality is they only have so many servers with so much bandwidth. If they upgraded that just to accommodate a launch they would 1. need to spend a whole lot more on server maintenance and 2. have a bunch of nearly empty servers from a few days after launch until the next expansion which people would complain about then.

blizzcon 2015 is a big dissapointment .... Legion expansion release september 2016, overwatch is not F2P cost 40 euros, Nothing new for Diablo, Only positive things they announced are like 20 new cards for HS, and story content for Starcraft 2 ... but overal its pretty bad... rip blizzard.

I'm not a WoW player, but from what I heard from 2 friends who used to play is that Cata ruined the game by making it way too linear, etc.

The main thing Cata did "wrong" was bring back difficulty for heroic level dungeons and raids. People went from Burning Crusade which was amazingly and very difficult to face rolling heroic dungeon in Wrath of the Lich King.

 

Cata had TBC level difficulty and people complained, then they nerfed it into the ground so it was a face roll again. Add in some delays in content patches and people started leaving( including myself: I only came back just before WoD). MoP, and WoD are both face rolls in anything under Mythic difficulty, and even Mythic level dungeons are a faceroll compared to what TBC and Early Cata Heroic dungeons where.

MoP's final raid tier/patch lasted 14 months, and they swore never to do that again, no there's still a 9 month wait until Legion. WoD already has the least amount of dungeons, and raids of all time, and add in another 9 months of doing the same content and it's understandable that people are annoyed and bored.

There is another patch coming for WoD, but it's not a major content one with new areas, and raids. Just time walking, where you can do older dungeons and get scaled down to that levels along with special rewards for doing them.

 

The linearity wasn't bad at all, as it helped to tell a very good story in Cata, MoP, and WoD. For legion though they allowing playing to go anywhere but one area to experience the story how they want, and it'll adapt to what they've done. They'll also be scaling up the area to match your level so that you don't over level in one and faceroll in another.

Lots of interesting things coming, but we'll have to wait and see how they actually implement it all and what is going to be cut.

WotLK had a very interesting storyline. I quit right before Cata but from what I could tell MoP was a pretty good expansion and comparison to WoD, MoP is better. 90 to 100 is kind of tedious and kind of boring... 68 to 80 and 85 to 90 was quite fun. But 80-85 and 90 to 100 was kind of boring, I really hope 100 to 110 is like 68 to 80 and 85 to 90.

 

Though I do like the more frequent expansions but only as long as it means that they can make a content packed expansion that doesn't go stale so quickly.

Honestly there's a lot of lore that Blizzard still can cover it's just how they go about doing it will really make or break World of Warcraft.

How is Legion releasing Sept a bad thing?  It's earlier than ever.  Overwatch has been assumed to be buy to pay since last Blizzcon, at least I felt that way.  Diablo had a few reveals on their next patch 2.4 which seems decent.  Starcraft 2 had a launch party.

This is true but there are ways to rent temporal space and expand capacity temporally when there are surges from increased players log ins, i think Blizz has its own premises for WoW servers so it may be a engineering PITA to allow their system to cooperate with somebody else systems but they atleast should look to it, MS right now is offering services to their customers where they can expand their in premises server with azure for expanded power and they charger for load instead of a fixed fee, that's a example that it is possible, so either is a engineering PITA that isn't worth it to them or they haven't looked into it, or there's also the possibility that they are to cheap to pay a few thousands for more power for a week.
