So a few weeks ago we all heard the news that AMD has split up its Processor and Graphics divisions. Well, today we have the official word from AMD regarding the newly branded Radeon Technologies Group.

Something that AMD has previously struggled with in the graphics market is the software and drivers. While they worked, a lot of users experienced problems and that put a bad taste in a large portion of the enthusiast community. This new rebrand hopes to change things with the discontinuation of the Catalyst software and introduction of Radeon/ FirePro settings.

We will see the first introduction of Radeon settings in the form of Radeon Software Crimson Edition before the end of the year.

We were sent a press presentation to offer us an early look at what to expect from this new venture and Radeon Technologies Group (Radeon TG) want to drive home six key values of Pro Graphics, Gaming, VR/ AR, Immersive, Performance and Efficiency. Generally people would laugh at the efficiency part, but Fiji has certainly changed the minds of a lot of people.

maybe CCC needed a complete design .. maybe

but but all of this would be for nothing if AMD's Radeon Division won't publish more WHQL certified drivers instead of half+ year apart

we all sow Windows' 10 behaviour when it comes to updates and how it manages hardware drivers - most of people are not tech savy and others, like enterprise users, won't even install BETA software

back in the day, ATi had a thing going - monthly driver updates .. it's gone

CCC was absolutely horrendous at times not long ago, but it's actually been quite decent the past year or so, atleast for me.

Let's hope that this change irons out the rest of CCC's shortcomings. Though I really don't see the point in WHQL certification being of any relevance outside FirePro drivers for stopgap drivers.

This is definitely a much needed move.

Nvidia's interface is not even that great but it was easy to use. It's the current CCC interface is so backward that doing any simple stuff requires multiple click that nVidia's interface looks so much better compare to it, would definitely be happy if they change that.

I like it actually. Meanwhile nvidia has done fucking nothing with their control panel in like forever.

I doubt it is any different than CCC it only looks like visual change.

Hopefully AMD can begin to push out more driver updates as time goes on, and we can start to see a come back.  -Hopefully- Zen and Arctic Islands out-do all our expectations and they can gain back market share.  Or get bought by Apple.  Either!

I don't own AMD products, and I'm not exactly a fan....

But this is great, I'd use this. Hopefully it isn't as buggy as GeForce has been for me on Windows 10.

As long as it's less complicated than CCC. Seriously, that was a work of a sadist.

I like how this one looks, just not sure about "Crimson edition". Are we gonna have different editions through time?

On phone so did not read the article.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

I got use to CCC, it kept things organized for what I use it for but hopefully more feature will be added in this new software and not just a visual change.

Looks nice. If it has the same functionality as shadowplay I would switch to AMD at my earliest convenience.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

To be honest I could give a shit about WHQL certification. It doesn't really mean anything, its just a badge.

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! AMD should never go back to their monthly updates. Ever. They were horrendous amount of shit that would blue screen your computer before you even downlaoded the file.

The redesign of CCC looks nice. It was already better looking than the Nvidia's control panel and now it's just that much more ahead.
