Why is AMD Seen as "Good Guys" whereas Nvidia is Seen as an Evil Corporation?

Khajiit Dealer

Can't really figure it out either.

Probably since Nvidia is bigger and AMD is doing badly these days.

I don't know why AMD is seen as the good guys, but Nvidia has been pulling some shady shit recently.

Like with Arkham Knight, and, hell, even as early back as 2001 they've been doing some shady shit. They flat-out lied about Maxwell, fucked over anyone with a 970, and forcing drivers to be updated through GeForce Experience.

But perhaps AMD's support for more expansive hardware? Such as running crossfire at slower PCIE speeds, the abillity to crossfire different GPUs (with the same architecture)

I think its because even though Nvidia is still way ahead in market share they try to do stuff like the 970 3.5GB VramGate thing and some other stupid stuff.

Before this turns into a brand circlejerk, they're both dumb companies. I don't know why people can't be objective, or at least try to be.

Probably because of the stuff that was going on at the release of the Witcher 3 and Project Cars.

Just some shady businesses from Nvidia. And people are starting to think Nvidia is getting a monopoly in the desktop GPU market (which is kinda the case, as they have 80% of the market I think)

There are no "good guys", it's a corporation. Their number 1 primary concern is making a profit, not the customer feelings. If the tables were turned and AMD had the cashflow, people would be playing up the whole underdog route with Nvidia instead.

Once you take the blinders of fanboyism off, you realize a business is just that. Cool peeps in some positions, but it's a souless machine more interested in getting dosh.

It holds massive percentage of GPU market and over this year they have made quite a few bad calls, like:
970 Gate, Laptop OC ing disabling then re enabling it and then disabling again(lol), gameworks drama, and recent announcement of game ready drivers locked by GFE.

sorry, but we do not want a disturbance in the forums. as we have already

had multiple topics on this same subject and they all ended in an environment

that damages our services to the community.

this active thread has the most civility, so far: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/469003-do-you-prefer-nvidia-or-amd/
