Asus releases 2 new ROG monitors

Having all that grunt in your rig to power your games would be meaningless if you don’t have a great display to do it justice.  If your frame rate is capped by your display, your trusty ol’ 19″ isn’t cutting it anymore, the pixels are so big you can literally count them, or the tearing in games is bringing you to tears, it’s time to upgrade one of the longest-serving components there is (apart from your case).  A great display can be your best friend for many years and with 2K/WQHD and 4K/UHD resolutions as the ceiling, ROG Swift PG279Q and Swift PG27AQ gaming displays won’t be needing an upgrade for a long time (look at how long 1080p Full-HD has been around!).

Both 27″ displays feature in-plane switching (IPS) panels with 4ms response time, Nvidia G-Sync, ASUS-exclusive GamePlus hotkeys for in-game enhancements, GameVisual technology for optimized visuals, Ultra-Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies to protect your eyes and reduce eye-strain during long sessions of gaming.

ROG Swift PG279Q

PG279Q has a 2K/WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, and is the world’s first display with a 165Hz refresh rate for for unrivaled smoothness!   At this resolution, you will find it possible to run all your games smoothly, although for some games it is still a struggle even for the majority of systems out there.  Many would argue that WQHD is the sweet spot because it is really, really difficult to run everything in 4K!

ROG Swift PG27AQ

PG27AQ is for those who have the best and demand the best (you need a helluva system to run this for gaming), but it certainly doesn’t hurt to future-proof yourself.  This features a 4K/UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution for four-times the sharpness compared to Full-HD!

 

There is a illuminated ROG logo at the base of the displays, as well as great connectivity including DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports.  Powerful built-in stereo speakers with earphone jacks are featured for less clutter on the desk.  Both stands are full adjustable and VESA mount compatible.

In my honest opinion, 10-bit colour is overkill for gaming, most people using 10-bit or higher panels use them for content creation.

they didn't talk about pricing yet, but I guess it's going to be mile high on both the 4k model and the 165Hz model.

Altough we should know soon, since both release date's are pretty close.

It's only 3/1000ths (that's 0.3%) slower than a 1ms TN panel, which is unnoticeable unless your senses were very highly tuned (like, borderline superhuman)

No. They weren't available on online e-tailers. What I'm guessing is that Asus had to do some tweaking and tuning with the monitors so that they won't have issues from day one, which will be a nightmare to deal with and fix. So now that it is gold, they have set forth release dates for the monitors as they felt like they are finally tweaked and tuned to their expectations. I don't exactly know what goes on behind their closed doors, but that is my best guess. Really like their products and their services as I had some issues with my 3-year old ROG G75VW-DS73-3D laptop which with their help, were fixed really easily.

Yep. I don't even notice a difference between 1ms and 4ms response time. If I did then I have to have an appearance on Stan Lee's Superhumans
