My week old wii u gamepad broken from, I shit you not, about an 18 inch long fall on carpet

It's kinda like office carpet, not super soft but not concrete. Cord got caught on something and it fell from a dinky ottoman/footrest I hat it sitting on. 

I just bought this thing 5-6 days ago.

I mean how the fuck does this happen? This thing is huge and light. This shouldn't break so easily.

A psp could survive a flight of stairs. Hell my phone probably could.

I remember a friend's gamestop refurbished psp only got a broken screen cause the dumbfucks put a screw in for the screen that was way to long making an indentation and a fulcrum to break on. He threw it as hard as he could to accomplish that, it had survived many rage throws prior.

Yet this breaks from an 18 inch fall.

99$ to fix it.

Yah fuck my warranty I guess I'm not paying that. I'm just gonna fix it myself. Mad I can't play splatoon now.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

That sucks ass though, ive dropped one of these onto a wooden floor without breaking one though.. so thats odd

I have thrown my iPad 2 across the room and have it hit a wall and I am using it right now.

you probably had one of those scenarios where it felt just right and it broke on spot. I've never dropped mine, but I've seen these drop sevral times on harder surfaces and come out with MAYBE a scratch. Sorry man. (also, does splatoon REALLY need the gamepad? I dont remember it requiring you to look at the bottom screen much, only use it to aim, then again I havent played it in 2 months because it got boring fast)

usually it's actually poor manufacturing tolerances and/or wrong screw sizes causing tension on the screen. half the reason I'm fixing it myself so I can try to prevent it if something's putting pressure on it.

Why high refreshrate monitors look better even without Freesync/G-sync in one image.

yah. I'm just pissed that a 1.5 foot fall killed it. That means this won't be the last time that happens.

Hmm that's odd, I'd think the weak spots would be towards the face, you might have had a screen structure imperfection, either way that thing wasn't very durable, I mean look at the gameboy for instance there is one in a museum that survive a bomb during the gulf war, that thing was a durable product. Stupid touch screen controller

My gameboy advance sp has survived a fall of the stairs.. dropepd my DS lite multiple times.. wouldn't DARE to drop my 3DS as I am sure it will break.

My GameCube controller went through a lot, throwing on the ground and stuff.. Nintendo Wii Nunchuk; analog stick was rip after 1 fall.

I drop my New 3DS XL on the ground every morning when I go to turn the alarm off, thing never breaks.

Well I have the original 3DS and I really feel like the thing is very not sturdy.

Yeah I've used the older ones and they don't feel as firm as the new ones, plus the hinge plays up after use and it feels worse.

Im still getting over the fact it's less dense/bricklike than the psp yet less durable

The PSP was made by sony, the king of delicate.....my ps3 controllers take monthly maintenance to not be trashed out in a year .

Until it got broken in an accident of sorts, I had my original DS3 controller and it was still like new feel wise. I just need to solder a new stick on it when i get around to it. But yea lots of cleaning and greasing to keep that thing in order.
