so i want to edit my own title, can i just create my own post and spam replies in it so that i reach 500 posts? :P

I was thinking of that too, but the way I did it was answer questions that have already been answered or talk random crap in the Off-Topic. Just comment on everything.

Just post meaningful content.

 

I respect a person who I see post less, but who posts things that have substance more than someone who has a high post count but just adds nothing to a conversation.

Sure there are people with both high post and decent posts, but thats a lot harder to do :P

 

I'm normally a slow poster, but this forum is easy to jump in and help people.

Find stuff you enjoy and just help people with it or discuss it. I mainly post around VR and Keyboards, as I know a decent amount in the area.

Once you do that you will hit 500 pretty quick.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, unless they changed it. 

I actually just tried, posted, refreshed and post count went from 1600 --> 1601.

No, you cannot spam until you get to 500 posts. If you want to be able to change your member title, you're going to have to make 231 constructive posts. If what you want to put there is so important, just add it to your signature until you get there.

 

And to the best of my knowledge, off topic doesn't count.
